The purpose of the investigation?

In order to timely and accurately reflect the total amount, structure and distribution of China's urban and rural labor resources, employment and unemployed population, and provide a basis for the government to accurately judge the employment situation, formulate and adjust employment policies, improve macro-control and strengthen employment services, according to the requirements of the Notice of the General Office of the State Council on Establishing a Labor Force Survey System (Guo Ban Fa [2004] No.72), a national monthly labor force survey plan is formulated.

Frequency and scope of investigation?

The frequency of labor force survey is once a month. The scope of the survey is the population living in urban and rural areas of Chinese mainland. Cities and towns are defined according to the Provisions on Statistical Division of Urban and Rural Areas 12 approved by the State Council in July 2008, and the rest areas are rural areas.
