Application of Green Washing-Hiding

In the eyes of environmental organizations, APP is like a "forest killer" waving an axe and a saw. The pulp mills of Asia's largest paper group are located in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Hainan, Guangxi and other places.

Since 2004, environmental organizations have continuously released investigation reports, condemning APP for damaging the environment. In 2006, WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) released a report in Indonesia, accusing APP of destroying forests on a large scale, resulting in the destruction of endangered habitats such as Sumatra tigers.

In a recent confrontation, Greenpeace believed that APP was burdened with billions of euros of "carbon debt" every year, and APP focused on promoting carbon sequestration of planted forests. About 5 million mu of forest in China can absorb nearly 2 billion kilograms of carbon dioxide every year.

In the past two years, APP has tried to establish a new image in front of the public: publicize and improve the extensive forest farm planting management system to the media, which is far below the national standard for water consumption and wastewater discharge; Invite college students and environmental protection organizations to visit the forest farm; Set up scholarships, engage in charity, and so on. The slogan "Based on China, Green Commitment" put forward recently is undoubtedly a show in the eyes of opponents. The problem of APP has a long history. The pollution emission management of its enterprises in China is generally at the domestic advanced level, which is worthy of recognition; However, in the process of raw material forest construction, it is suspected of destroying natural forests and nature reserves, which has a very negative impact on the ecological environment. APP often emphasizes the achievements in pollution control, but has always avoided the shortcomings in ecological damage.

The key link of corporate social responsibility is whether we really pay attention to sustainable development in the whole production process. If an enterprise is unwilling to admit these behaviors while continuing ecological destruction, and at the same time flaunts itself as a green enterprise in the field of charity, such a "green commitment" is a "distorted" commitment.
