Ganxian was called a good place to worship heaven in the era of the Yellow Emperor. It was the territory of Yongzhou in the Xia Dynasty, qi zhou in the Shang Dynasty and Qin in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. In the 12th year of Qin Xiaogong (the first 350 years), the county was established. Qin Shihuang unified the six countries, with Xianyang as its capital, and Qi Hao belonged to the auxiliary land of Gyeonggi. In the Northern Wei Dynasty, it was changed to Moxi County, Sui County was changed to shangyi county, and it was reset in the Tang Dynasty. In the first year of Tang Ruizong civilization (684), Tang Gaozong regarded Liangshan, a northern county, as "Ganling" and even named it "Fengtian" for sacrifice. In 783, four years after the founding of Tang Dezong, Julian took refuge in Fengtian and rebelled against Pingping. In the first year of Xingyuan (784), it was promoted to Fengtian Chixian County, which was directly under the jurisdiction of Kyoto. In the second year of Tang Zhaozong Ganning (895), Fengtian County was established in Ganzhou. In the second year of the Republic of China (19 13), Ganzhou was changed to Ganxian.

According to the work report of Xianyang municipal government in 2006, Ganxian county will complete the work of withdrawing the county to set up a city and establishing Ganzhou city in the next few years.
