I would like to thank the leaders of Donghua Town Central School for their trust in me two years ago. I remember clearly at that time that I had just arrived as the principal of Yuancun Primary School, Donghua Town, Dengfeng City. We also encountered many difficulties. For example: teachers cook alone, the school has no goals, the campus is dilapidated inside and outside, teachers lack fighting spirit, students’ activities are monotonous, teaching performance has declined, and it is on the verge of dissolution. In the past two years, how have we overcome difficulties one after another, seized the opportunities around us, climbed out of the trough, and won the respect of others? The school’s growth story is now shared as follows:
1. Solve teachers’ life problems and build team spirit
On March 8, 2017, I came to Yuancun Primary School as the principal and saw a A teacher started a fire to cook, which wasted a lot of teaching time. At that time, because I served as the vice principal and worked in logistics services for 12 years in the second primary school, it hurt my eyes and my heart to see how much teaching work was delayed! So, we first visited the teachers, and then held a teacher meeting, and the teachers unanimously agreed to have a meal together. So, I took immediate action and purchased a set of cooking utensils. The teachers took turns cooking in different shifts, which saved a lot of teaching time. From working alone to working together, teachers have become more harmonious and more motivated to work. Now, we are all very relieved that the problem of teachers’ life has been solved.
2. Participate in study and training attentively, correctly grasp the direction of running schools, and seize opportunities to improve school running conditions
In the past two years, I have participated in the qualification training for principals in Zhengzhou City and the education administrators in Dengfeng City Advanced training class of Suzhou University, training class of Nanjing Normal University for principals of Dengfeng Primary School, Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. I have benefited a lot from three important principal trainings.
After the principal qualification training in April 2017, I understood the responsibility of being a principal and finding the direction for the development of the school. After learning the section "Accurate positioning and effective communication", I gained a lot. That night, with inspiration and responsibility, I thought and deliberated over and over again, and initially determined the school's educational philosophy and goals, training goals and educational methods. When I looked at my watch, it was already 1:30. Principal Liu Jianchao, who was in my room, woke up and said, "Brother, go to sleep." At that time, I smiled silly and took a rest. After we came back, we discussed the school goals together at regular meetings, and handed over our immature school ideas to Principal Yao for guidance. After Principal Yao’s guidance, we finally successfully rewritten them. "Advance with the times and develop in an all-round way" is our school philosophy, and "strive to be first-class and realize our dreams and grow" is our goal. The 12 eye-catching red letters on the teaching building "Be good at learning, be good at being a good person, strengthen the body and mind, and think far" are our training goals, and they have always inspired teachers and students to move forward.
After the school is accurately positioned, I think we must find the village chief for effective communication. I was fully prepared in the days before the exchange. On August 12, I went directly to the head of Yuan Village. I told the village chief about the current situation of the school and said sincerely that if the school is not renovated and updated, it will be in trouble. The village chief said excitedly: "We can't merge. Once we merge, our village will have no culture and the people will be scattered. You can support us as much as you want." I responded eagerly: "The teacher's office environment and student classrooms are in urgent need of renovation. "He did it as he said. When the village party secretary and he went to the school and saw the old doors and windows and the potholes on the ground, they took action immediately. In less than 15 days, the first floor of the office building had a new look, and the first and second grade students moved into brand new classrooms.
During the training at Suzhou University in November 2017, I sent a WeChat report to the village chief about my school’s first place result, and then suggested that the village committee install air conditioning in the teachers’ collective office. The village chief immediately agreed and sent a 3P cabinet machine to the teacher, which solved the teacher's heating problem. After studying, visiting, and exchanging ideas at Suzhou University, I deeply felt that our education is very different from Suzhou’s education. All this made me more clear about the importance and urgency of current campus management and education reform. I feel the burden on my shoulders is much heavier. After returning home, we must redouble our efforts to improve the quality of the school and build a beautiful rural school.
3. New opportunities, new development, our school is ushering in spring
One morning in January 2018, I received a call from Principal Li Songwei, Shaoling, Director Yang Feijian just said , the village chief of Yuan Village said that he wants to set up a charity foundation to support the development of our education. Let’s go to the village chief to ask about the situation. So, Principal Li, Logistics Director Lu Xueling and I went to the village chief's office together. The village chief warmly entertained us and shared his ideas with us in preparation for establishing a village love foundation. We were all touched at the time and the exchange was particularly successful. Finally, Principal Li said that we should build a library for the school first, so that the school can have a cultural atmosphere and unique characteristics. The village chief took action immediately without saying a word. During the winter vacation, the Party Secretary and Secretary of the Yuancun Village Committee and I visited Shuyuanhe Primary School and built a loving bookstore to satisfy rural children’s desire to read. On March 13, Yuancun Charity Fund Association raised more than 200,000 yuan and was officially established. Director Yang Feijian of the Education and Sports Bureau, Donghua Town Secretary, Mayor, Central School leaders, principals of each school, and Yuancun caring people attended the establishment ceremony . The charity fund is used for charity teaching assistant projects such as school hardware improvement, teacher and student rewards, and free lunch for teachers and students. On that day, the school set the goal of making the countryside small and beautiful, small and excellent.
Before the foundation was established, there were many, many people who were grateful. Teachers Li Baoliang, Wang Guomin, and Chang Jinying, we painted the walls together, hung banners, and decorated the venue together. Other teachers organized students to greet the leaders of each school. At that moment, it was like we, Donghua Yuancun Primary School, were holding a big happy event, and everyone was united as one. Thanks to the leaders of the Central School for coming in advance to make suggestions, thanks to all the principals for coming to congratulate, thanks to the reporters from Education TV and Henan Yingwang for coming to publicize, and thanks to all the caring people in Yuan Village, more than 30 people, some of whom came from Zhengzhou in a hurry. Special thanks to Principal Li Songwei for making suggestions for Donghua Education during his illness. Without him, our Yuancun Primary School Charity Fund Association would not have been successfully established. Although he has left us, his spirit will always live in our hearts. At that time, I was very excited. Since then, I have involuntarily changed the name of WeChat to "Be grateful". In this era, the more grateful you are, the more successful you will be.
? After the establishment of the Love Fund Association, the school environment has completely changed from top to bottom, from inside to outside. In May 2018, the charity teaching assistant funds invested 7,000 yuan in painting the north teaching building and installing curtains on the campus. During the summer vacation, we invested more than 10,000 yuan in digging a deep well for the school. During the National Day, we invested more than 8,000 yuan in building a flag stand and painting the school wall. Yuan. Since the establishment of Love Teaching Assistant, lunch has invested more than 40,000 yuan in the school. During the Spring Festival, the village committee took the initiative to send condolence money to teachers on Teacher's Day. In the past year since its establishment, the charity fund has invested approximately 116,618 yuan.
At the same time, in the past two years, our school’s education and teaching results have been gratifying. From 2017 to 2018, we ranked first in the township in the middle and final semester of the next semester. In recognition of Teachers' Day in 2018, it was rated as an advanced unit in teaching quality and education management by Donghua Town Central School. Teacher Yuan Ruina was rated as “Outstanding Teacher in Dengfeng City”. Teachers Liu Lixia and Liu Ruiling successfully established projects in Zhengzhou City and Dengfeng City respectively.
4. Pay attention to quality education and find ways to build a connotation school
Our school actively contacts Dengfeng Community College. We are very lucky and very grateful to two training institutions. One is Principal Song Songxia who comes to the Songxia Piano Training Department to give happy music classes to the children. 2. The other excellent Dengfeng "Star Rhythm" training institution teaches art. On the first day, their principal Shen Xiaoke, who is also a person who loves education, brought three teachers to the school that day specifically to inspect and help the development of rural schools. Through our sincere communication and focusing on the children, he said he would fully support them. At first, he sent people to the school to teach art classes carefully. Later, he boldly proposed that he wanted the children to go to Dengfeng for training and comprehensive learning.
Every Wednesday morning, two cars are sent to the school for free early in the morning to pick up a group of students and go to Dengfeng to learn dance, piano, art, drums, etc. to improve the students' literacy. We were very moved and took a group photo at that time. Although they have stopped teaching due to departmental adjustments this semester, Principal Shen said that they can come and study at any time. Especially, Principal Shen’s kindness will be recorded in the history of the school forever.
3. By chance, we were invited to the Model Aircraft Exhibition. His headquarters is next to the Zhongyue Temple. He took the time to perform charity performances for students, which was an eye-opener for the Normal University.
4. The library is open all day, so children can read to their heart's content. This work is not solid enough. We will continue to learn and firmly promote the reading of teachers and students to create characteristics.
