Baiyin Engel Desert Endangered Plant Nature Reserve (2)
In 1999, the Hangjin Banner Forestry Bureau commissioned the Forestry Survey and Design Institute of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the protected area, and on this basis prepared a master plan for the protected area. In December of the same year, the plan was approved by The review was organized by the Inner Mongolia Environmental Protection Bureau and officially reported to the People's Government of the Autonomous Region. In 2000, the "Inner Mongolia Baiyin Engel Autonomous Region Nature Reserve" was established with the approval of the People's Government of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. In 2007, it was listed by the autonomous region as a key protected area promoted to a national nature reserve during the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period. 2. Overview of natural resources
1. Wild plant resources
(1) Composition of plant families and genera
Plant species constitute the main body of vegetation. The flora of the area is dominated by seed plants. According to incomplete statistics, there are 326 species of seed plants in the reserve, belonging to 173 genera and 50 families. Among them, there are 324 species of angiosperms, belonging to 172 genera and 49 families, accounting for 98.0% of the plant families, genera and species in the reserve. 99.4{bf}, 99.4{bf}; 2 species of gymnosperms, belonging to 1 family and 1 genus, accounting for 2.0{bf}, 0.6{bf}, and 0.6{bf} of the number of families, genus, and species respectively.
(2) Vegetation type
The flora of the protected area is located in the Asian Desert Flora Region - Alxa Desert Flora Province - East Alxa Desert Prefecture, and is a steppe desert area . The main zonal vegetation is drought-resistant grassland and desert vegetation. According to the vegetation classification system and the classification standards of classification units at all levels, the vegetation in the reserve is divided into 1 vegetation type (desert vegetation), 2 vegetation subtypes (shrub desert, semi-shrub, and small semi-shrub desert), and 4 groupings. (Typical shrub desert, steppe shrub desert, salt-wood semi-shrub, small semi-shrub desert, artemisia desert) 9 groups (Bawang Desert, White Thorn Desert, Sand Holly Desert, Cotton Thorn Desert, Quartz Desert, Caragana angustifolia desert, Zhenzhucha desert, red sand desert, Artemisia ordosica desert).
(3) Protected plants
According to the "List of National Key Protected Plants" (approved and published by the Environmental Protection Committee of the State Council in July 1984) and the "List of National Key Protected Wild Plants (First (Approval)" (State Forestry Administration, Ministry of Agriculture, 1999), there are 6 species of national rare and endangered plants in the reserve. There are approximately 58 species of endemic species, ancient relict species and other endangered plants in the reserve, accounting for 17.8% of the plant species in the reserve. Among them, rare plants such as tetrapanax, half-day flower, cotton thorn, and sand holly are rare. The degree of endangerment is particularly prominent. There are 7 species of plants in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region reserve in the reserve, including 1 species of plants in the autonomous region's Level II protected area and 6 species of plants in the Autonomous Region's Level III protected area. Five species are included in the list of priority plant protections in the "China Biodiversity Conservation Action Plan": half-day flower, Leatherbath, Ilex japonica, Cottonwood, and Quartzia.
(4) Economic plant resources
The protected area contains rich plant resources. These plant resources are the basis for sustainable utilization and provide people with clothing, food, housing, transportation, etc. The raw materials necessary for survival are also important germplasm resources and genetic gene banks.
According to the survey, the plant resources in the protected area can be divided into six categories according to their economic uses, namely medicinal plant resources, fiber, feed plant resources, edible plant resources, pesticide plant resources, and ornamental plant resources. Plant resources, sand-fixing plant resources. Previous page 1 /4 Next page
