Recruitment targets: The recruitment targets for male soldiers are mainly young people who have graduated from high school (including vocational high school, technical secondary school, technical school, the same below) and above. The young people recruited with non-agricultural registered permanent residence should have an education level of high school graduation or above; the young people recruited with agricultural registered permanent residence should have an education level above junior high school graduation. Try to recruit as many young people as possible with an education level above high school graduation to join the army. The recruitment targets for female soldiers are fresh graduates from ordinary high schools and full-time fresh graduates and current students from ordinary colleges and universities. Students who have been admitted to ordinary colleges and universities and are currently studying in colleges and universities in that year can be approved to enlist in the army if they apply and meet the conditions.

Political requirements: Young people recruited should love the Communist Party of China, love the socialist motherland, love the people's army, abide by laws and regulations, have good moral character, and be determined to resist aggression, defend the motherland, and defend the people's peace. Labor and heroic struggle. The main purpose is to understand the actual performance, basic personal situation, main experiences, rewards and punishments of the young applicants, as well as the relevant situations of family members and major social relations members.

Basic physical conditions: Height: above 162cm for males and above 160cm for females. Weight: Standard weight = (height-110)kg. Men should not exceed 25% of the standard weight and should not be less than 15% of the standard weight; women should not exceed nor be less than 15% of the standard weight.

Visual acuity: The unaided visual acuity of the right eye is not less than 4.9, and the unaided visual acuity of the left eye is not less than 4.8; among them: the unaided visual acuity of the right eye of young people with a high school education is not less than 4.7, and the unaided visual acuity of the left eye is not less than 4.5 ; The unaided visual acuity of college students’ right eye is not less than 4.6, and the unaided visual acuity of the left eye is not less than 4.5. If there is refractive error, more than half a year after excimer laser surgery, there are no complications, and the visual acuity reaches the corresponding standard, the applicant is qualified. The specific physical conditions must comply with the "Physical Examination Standards for Citizens Recruited" promulgated by the Ministry of National Defense and relevant regulations.

Cultural and age requirements: Young men must be between 18 and 20 years old before December 31 of the current year. Young people with high school graduation and education can be relaxed to 21 years old, and students in ordinary colleges and universities can be relaxed to 22 years old. Higher vocational (junior college) graduates can relax to 23 years of age, and graduates with a bachelor's degree or above can relax to 24 years of age. Young women must be 18 to 19 years old before December 31 of that year. Students in ordinary colleges and universities can be relaxed to 20 years old, and fresh graduates of ordinary colleges and universities can be relaxed to 22 years old. High school graduates who are over 17 years old can be recruited to join the army based on their own volition.

Legal basis:

Article 20 of the "Military Service Law of the People's Republic of China" Male citizens who have reached the age of 18 shall be conscripted into active service; those who have not been conscripted that year , they can still be drafted into active service before they reach the age of twenty-two. The recruitment age for graduates from ordinary colleges and universities can be relaxed to 24 years old, and the recruitment age for graduate students can be relaxed to 26 years old. According to the needs of the military, female citizens may be recruited for active service in accordance with the provisions of the preceding paragraph. According to the needs of the military and their own volition, citizens aged 17 or above but under 18 may be recruited for active service.

Article 3 of the "Regulations on Military Recruitment" stipulates that male citizens who reach the age of 18 before December 31 of each year shall be recruited for active service. Those who were not drafted that year can still be drafted for active service before the age of 22. According to the needs of the military, female citizens may be recruited for active service in accordance with the provisions of the preceding paragraph. According to the needs of the military and the principle of personal voluntariness, male and female citizens who are 17 years old but not 18 years old before December 31 of that year can be recruited for active service. Citizens with serious physical defects or severe disabilities who are not suitable for military service are exempted from military service. Citizens who are drafted are the only labor force to maintain their families or are students attending full-time schools, and they can defer the draft. People who are deprived of political rights in accordance with the law will not be recruited. Citizens who are in custody and are being investigated, prosecuted, or tried, or who have been sentenced to imprisonment, criminal detention, or surveillance and are serving their sentences, will not be recruited.
