Where is Gong's ancestral temple?

Out of Jinxi County, along the southbound 12km of National Highway 206, you can see a mountain named Maoerling. There is a beautiful mountain village at the foot of the mountain, namely Hougong Village in Zuofang Town. The village is small and has a small population, but it is famous for its red history and attracts an endless stream of tourists.

Turn into the village from National Highway 206, and you can see a red archway. Although it was built in modern times, it contains some ancient meanings. Walking eastward along Paifang Road, you can see a lush camphor tree in the distance. Under the camphor tree is an ancient ancestral temple, which is the Gong ancestral temple and the former site of the Red Army headquarters.

1933 1 month, after the victory of the first army of the Chinese Red Army of Workers and Peasants in Huangshi, the troops directly under it were stationed in Zuofang area, with Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, Wang Jiaxiang and other Hougong villages as the headquarters, with the headquarters in Gongshi ancestral hall in Hougong village, and the political department under Wangjiacang, half a mile away from Gongshi ancestral hall. Commander-in-Chief Zhu De lives in a private house near South Zhu Shan in Hougong Village. There is a hole dug by Zhushan to prevent air strikes. Commander-in-Chief Zhu held many meetings of Red Army cadres in the cave to deploy operational plans.

Entering Gong's ancestral temple, it is grand in scale and simple in architecture. Although it is a common shrine in Jinxi, it has experienced ups and downs for more than 70 years, but it is still well preserved. There is a unique wind and rain corridor in the ancestral hall, and there is a square table among the four big wooden pillars in the corridor. A villager said that this was the place where Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, Wang Jiaxiang and the Red Army generals issued operational orders.

Gong's ancestral hall consists of three buildings: the main hall, the secondary hall and the lower room. The second hall is smaller than the main hall. Portraits of the top ten marshals of the People's Liberation Army are hung in the hall, and pictures of The Yellow Lion's Victory and the story of Zhu De in Hougong Village are displayed. The second hall still preserves the storage room, convalescent room and slogan of the Red Army in those days, which is still discernible and worthy of people's admiration and nostalgia.

Walking out of the ancestral hall, a person in charge of a relevant department in the county introduced that several generations of villagers in Hougong Village cherished the historical site of Gongancestral hall. During the war, some villagers gave their lives to protect this cultural relic. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, villagers paid more attention to the protection of ancestral temples and persisted in maintaining them. In order to protect Gong's ancestral hall, in recent years, villagers raised 70,000 yuan to completely repair it.
