Lincoln Gettysburg Address

Gettysburg address

Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

1 1 month 19, 1863

Eighty-seven years ago, our forefathers founded a new country on this continent, which conceived and pursued the principle that all men are created equal.

Now, we are involved in a great civil war, which will test whether this country or any country that was born here and practiced this way can exist for a long time. We met on the battlefield of that war. We are here to dedicate a part of that battlefield to those who gave their lives for the survival of the country as their final resting place. It is absolutely right for us to do so.

However, in a broader sense, we cannot dedicate, sanctify or deify this land. Brave people, living and dead, have sanctified it, which is far beyond our control. The world will not notice what we say here, but it will never forget what they do here. We, the living, should devote ourselves to the great task before us. From these glorious dead, we should devote ourselves even more to the cause for which they gave their last full strength. This country will gain a new life of freedom, and this government of the people, by the people and for the people will not disappear from the earth.

Speaker: abraham lincoln.

Eighty-seven years ago, our forefathers established a new country on this continent, which was conceived in freedom and pursued the principle that all men are created equal.

We are waging a great civil war to test whether this country, or any country conceived in freedom and practicing the above principles, can survive for a long time. We are gathered on the great battlefield of this war. The martyrs gave their lives for the survival of this country, and we are here to dedicate part of this battlefield to them as the final resting place. It is entirely appropriate for us to do so.

However, in a broader sense, we cannot dedicate, deify or deify this land. Those brave men who fought here, living and dead, have consecrated this land, which is far beyond our meager strength. What we say here today will not be noticed by the whole world, nor will it be remembered for a long time, but what the brave men did here will never be forgotten by the whole world. On the contrary, those of us who are still alive should devote ourselves here to the unfinished business that the warriors have so nobly advanced. On the contrary, we should devote ourselves to the great task still before us here-we should learn more dedication from these glorious dead to complete the cause of their complete dedication; We must make the greatest determination here and not let these dead people die in vain; We hope that this country will be reborn freely under the blessing of God, and this government of the people, by the people and for the people will exist forever.

Abraham lincoln abraham lincoln (1809- 1865) was the sixteenth president of the United States (1861-kloc-0/865). He taught himself the law and was elected president on the platform of opposing slavery, which led to the secession of the southern States. In the resulting civil war (186 1- 1865), as president, he played the most effective and inspiring leadership role in American history. With firm faith, far-reaching vision and perfect political skills, he successfully led a divided country through the bloodiest civil war in history, thus saving the Union. He devoted himself to promoting democracy, freedom and equality of all mankind, expounded his humanitarian thoughts in the most eloquent language, and lost no time in publishing the Emancipation Declaration, so he was honored as a "great liberator" by later generations. Lincoln was not only a great president but also a great man. Born in the lower class of society, he has the virtues of diligence, simplicity, modesty and sincerity. Lincoln is the most approachable of all American presidents. Lincoln's works are mainly speeches and letters, which are famous for their conciseness and solemnity, distinctive views, rich ideas, flexible expression, adaptability to the target and special American flavor. This speech is one of the most beautiful and poetic articles in American literature. Although this is a speech to celebrate military victory, it is not easy to fight. On the contrary, it is a touching eulogy, praising those who made the ultimate sacrifice and their ideals for it. Among them, the famous saying that "the government should be for the people, by the people and for the people" is widely praised.
