Olympic motto

Olympic motto is: Faster, Higher, Stronger

English: faster, higher, stronger

Latin: Citius, Altius, Fortius

Source and significance

The Olympic motto was put forward by Henry Martin Didong. It fully expresses the spirit of continuous progress and never-ending struggle advocated by the Olympic Movement. It not only means that we should not be afraid of strong players, dare to struggle and dare to win in competitive sports, but also encourages people not to be mediocre in their own lives and work, to be full of vigor and vitality, to forge ahead forever, to surpass themselves and to exert their potential to the limit.

Olympic spirit

"Everyone should enjoy the possibility of engaging in sports without any form of discrimination, and embody the Olympic spirit of mutual understanding, friendship, unity and fair competition". On July 2th, the word "more unity" was added to the Olympic motto and changed to "higher, faster, stronger-more unity". International Olympic Committee President Bach said: "This is not only to deal with the COVID-19 epidemic, but also to deal with the huge challenges we face."
