What does the shrine mean?

A shrine, also called a sacred coffin, is a small pavilion where Taoist immortals statues or ancestral tablets are placed. According to the width of the temple hall and the number of gods, there are shrines of different sizes. There are bases and niches on large shrines. There are often exquisite reliefs, general carvings and semi-circular carvings on the surface of niches, which have a classical aesthetic feeling.
