The story of "Light of the Maritime Silk Road" and "Power Grid Volunteers" begins in 2003. At that time, Quanzhou Electric Power Bureau established the "Quanzhou Electric Power Volunteers" volunteer service team to provide extended services while providing power supply services. As wires are delivered to thousands of enterprises and homes, the voluntary services of power supply employees are also impressive. In 2021, the service team was renamed as "Light of Maritime Silk Road" Power Grid Volunteers "Volunteer Service Team". Volunteers help the poor, weak and disabled, walking through the streets and alleys, warming thousands of households.

Start with small things to carry out volunteer services

In 2003, Liu Xiaolei, an employee of the Quanzhou Electric Power Bureau Urban Power Supply Company, went to Xinmen Street and Alley every weekend to work overtime to help the visually impaired. Lin Zanfa buys daily necessities and solves life problems. Lin Zanfa was 57 years old at the time and lived alone. He had suffered from eye disease since he was 3 years old and relied on neighbors and volunteers to help him buy rice and vegetables every day.

There are many elderly people living in Malu Alley who are unable to take care of themselves. Liu Xiaolei and six colleagues took the initiative to become volunteers. They take turns visiting the elderly every week to wash clothes, do hygiene, and chat with the elderly for walks. Things are small and trivial. ?Starting from small things is the original intention of our volunteer service. ?Liu Xiaolei said. In 2003, Quanzhou Electric Power Bureau organized Liu Xiaolei and other employees to establish the "Quanzhou Electric Power Volunteers" volunteer service team. The service team became one of the first batch of registered volunteer service groups in Quanzhou City.

After the volunteer service team was established, the power volunteers were paired with 36 orphans and disabled elderly people in Quanzhou City in a "two-on-one" assistance model to ensure the long-term effectiveness of the service. Electricity volunteers use weekends and weekends to regularly visit the elderly to repair their home appliances and deliver daily necessities. During holidays, they also deliver holiday gifts and condolence money.

While helping the elderly in pairs, volunteers also send care to left-behind children and children with family difficulties. Since 2004, electric power volunteers have paired up with more than 50 students from Yongchun County, Dehua County, Hui'an County, Quangang District and other places, as well as more than 260 students from Beituan Electric Power Hope Primary School in Liancheng County, to carry out "one-to-one" support. support activities.

From helping the elderly and funding the Electric Power Hope Primary School to donating blood and serving rural revitalization, the service team's volunteer service scope continues to expand.

In April 2019, Lin Shujuan, a volunteer from the Anxi County Power Supply Company, met Li Huojin, director of the Longjuan Township Poverty Alleviation Training and Entrepreneurship Center, during a volunteer activity. Lin Shujuan discovered that Li Huojin often promoted special poverty alleviation agricultural products in her circle of friends, so she took the initiative to contact him. After further understanding of the situation, the service team signed agricultural product purchase contracts with two agricultural professional cooperatives, Nan'an Shanfu Ecology and Anxi Yupin Longjuan.

On October 15, 2020, the "Light of Maritime Silk Road" Power Grid Volunteers Volunteer Service Team received a letter of thanks from Nan'an Shanfu Ecological Agriculture Professional Cooperative. The letter stated that the cooperative's sales volume had dropped significantly due to the epidemic. In April 2020, when the cooperative was in its most difficult time, the "Light of Maritime Silk Road" grid volunteers helped them sell early rice, dried sweet potatoes, and mushrooms through agency sales, purchasing agents, and endorsements. , honey and other agricultural products helped the cooperative tide over the difficulties.

As of December 2020, the service team has sold and purchased poverty alleviation agricultural products on behalf of more than 4.3 million yuan, and has provided services to 50 poor households in 12 natural villages, including Ruiban Village, Leifeng Town, Dehua County, and Gaoyang Village, Xunzhong Town. Endorsement? Promote poverty alleviation agricultural products and help farmers get rid of poverty and become rich. Since the normalization of epidemic prevention and control, Quanzhou Power Supply Company has established a "Light of Maritime Silk Road" power grid volunteer epidemic emergency service team of 162 people to assist the community in completing nucleic acid testing and guarding epidemic prevention points. In mid-March this year, the epidemic prevention and control situation in Quanzhou City was severe. Quanzhou Power Supply Company immediately organized "Light of Maritime Silk Road" power grid volunteers to participate in voluntary services for epidemic prevention and control. On March 17, the service team gathered 50 volunteers in just two hours and divided them into 5 groups to go to 5 communities in Chengdong Street, Fengze District. They cooperated to complete nucleic acid testing, material distribution, traffic guidance, etc., and served a total of 5,793 people.

Moon Bay, located in Zhangban Town, Hui'an County, attracts many tourists for its beautiful coastline. Protecting the ecological environment here is one of the contents of the "Guangming Clean Walk" volunteer project. On June 25, the service team carried out the "Little Hands Holding Big Hands to Clean the Bright Beach" environmental protection theme volunteer activity, organizing local primary school students to pick up plastic bags, empty bottles, cigarette butts and other garbage on the beach, calling on the public to protect the environment.
