School profile of Longhai No. 1 Middle School in Fujian Province

Longhai No. 1 Middle School of Fujian Province was founded in 1925 on the basis of the "Jinjiang Academy" at that time. In the more than 20 years before liberation, the school went through many vicissitudes and its name changed several times, from "Shixi Agricultural Middle School", "Longxi County No. 2 Middle School", "Shixi Vocational Middle School", "Longxi Rural Normal School" to "Shixi Xi Agricultural School", it was not until the merger of Longxi and Haicheng in 1960 after liberation that it was changed to the No. 1 Middle School of Longhai City, Fujian Province. In 1958, Longhai No. 1 Middle School entered the ranks of the provincial key middle schools, and in 1959 it was rated as a "Red Flag School" by the province. In 1960, three teachers and students went to Beijing to attend the National Meeting of Heroes of the Cultural and Educational System.

The school has a glorious revolutionary tradition. After Mao Zedong led the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army to conquer Zhangzhou, he appointed Luo Ruiqing, Yang Chengwu and others to lead the troops and stationed in Shima. Among them, the 28th Regiment headquarters was located in the school. Many revolutionary slogans were left on the wall of the school’s “Red Army Building”.
