2021 Beijing Peony Cultural Festival

Peonies of more than 600 varieties will bloom in 7 urban and rural exhibition areas and more than 1,900 acres until the end of May. Activities

The peony planting area of ??Beijing Xishan National Forest Park is 47,000 square meters. There are more than 160 varieties from the Central Plains Peony Group, Northwest Peony Group, and Japanese Peony Variety Group, more than 8,000 peonies, and more than 3,000 eight-color peonies. The design follows the undulations of the mountain, combined with Chinese pine and natural terrace planting, which fully highlights the characteristics of fragrant peonies.

Jingshan Park

As a characteristic plant of “one garden, one product”, Jingshan Park peony has a planting area of ??about 40,000 square meters. There are 569 exotic varieties planted in the garden, including 346 Central Plains peonies, 109 Northwest purple peonies and 114 exotic peonies. The peony varieties in the Central Plains are mainly Luoyang and Heze peony varieties. They are planted on both sides of Qianshan Mountain, on the west side of Guande Hall, and in the Ximen area. In particular, the peony garden at the entrance of the east gate has some traditional and precious domestic varieties planted; The main viewing areas for foreign peony varieties are near both sides of Shouhuangdian Square. During the Peony Cultural Festival, Jingshan Park will also hold activities such as the "Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition", the "Heavenly Fragrance and National Beauty" peony calligraphy and painting exhibition, and the "The Only Peony in the World" peony photography art exhibition on top of the Forbidden City. Summer Palace

There are more than 70 varieties and more than 520 peonies in the Summer Palace, mainly distributed in the National Flower Terrace, the south and north terraces of Renshou Hall, the Water Plant Campus and the Peony Pond of Paiyun Hall. Nearby, the planting area is about 1100 square meters. It is the oldest and most complete multi-layered terrace planting form in Beijing Peony Garden during the Qing Dynasty.

Beijing Botanical Garden

The Beijing Botanical Garden Peony Garden is located on the west side of Zhongzhou Road, adjacent to the greenhouse area to the south and the Haitang Cotton Peach Garden to the north. It was built in 1980 and officially opened to the public in 1983, covering an area of ??about 7 hectares. There are nearly 6,000 peonies of more than 500 varieties planted in the garden, covering four major varieties: Central Plains Peony, Northwest Peony, Jiangnan Peony, and Southwest Peony. The peonies on display are also extremely colorful, including nine varieties of peonies: red, white, blue, green, yellow, pink, purple, black and multi-color, covering all the colors of peonies.

Yanqing Exhibition Area

Yanqing people have a special liking for peonies. Until now, Dongjiagou Village, Dazhuang Ke Township, still retains a Ming Dynasty peony that dates back hundreds of years, which is a testimony to the historical inheritance of peony culture in Yanqing District. Yanqing's unique climate and soil characteristics make the peonies cultivated in Yanqing bright in color, of high quality, with a longer flowering period and larger flower shapes than in other areas.
