Prose: Teachers' Day Teachers

Text: Zhang

A piece of chalk dyed their once black hair; With a pointer, they used to have a beautiful face; The three-foot platform is the battlefield for them to gallop for life; Several classrooms are also the stage for them to show their youth. It is their pride to recruit new dolls every year and graduate students every few years. For decades, the monotonous and rich teaching cycle has been repeated, and thousands of kind and strange children trained by children have become pillars. This is the achievement they have been pursuing all their lives.

They have countless titles, such as hard gardener, engineer of soul, enlightener of children and cultivator of beauty, but they actually prefer the most common and kind name: teacher. The ancients Han Yu said that "teachers are also teachers who teach and solve doubts"; Professor Qian Liqun said that "a good teacher should love education, students and reading". The ancients praised the teacher with poems, "Spring silkworms die, and tears are exhausted every night"; Today, people praise teachers with the song "I will be you when I grow up, and I will know that the podium is for others and for myself".

In ancient times, rich people could study in private, but the poor lower class could not afford "sir". There are many people who can't read for generations, but it is every parent's greatest wish to let their children read, read and understand. After the founding of New China, a large number of illiterate farmers need to attend literacy classes to recognize their names. Now parents are afraid that their children will lose at the starting line, choose a good school, buy a school district, and report to countless cram schools after class. As we all know, just a few decades ago, there was no starting line at all, and everyone's foundation was zero. Everyone can read, and everyone has a book to read. How long has this been? We should thank this era and these teachers, especially those old rural teachers who only want their children to have books to read.

When we were young, the teachers in the primary schools in the village were very weak. If you push it forward for a while, the teacher will have no status at that time, either being knocked down or standing aside. It takes a lot of courage to be a teacher. By the time my generation went to school, most of the primary school teachers in the village were mud legs, such as my mother, my uncle, my uncle Wang and my brother Xing Huihe. Some of them only went to junior high school, and some even went to primary school. Compared with other farmers, they may know two more foreign words, or play with abacus beads. They were ordered in times of crisis, paid no attention to treatment, and took a meager subsidy of a few dollars a month. They went to the podium during the day, went to the fields at night, and participated in production team labor on holidays. Due to the shortage of teachers, many people have a class system, and one person teaches one grade. Chinese, mathematics, ideology and morality, nature and so on are all teachers, and they are busy from morning till night every day. Every exam, the school should evaluate, the district should evaluate, and the town should evaluate. These young people who are eager to grow up don't give up when teaching. Every exam, my mother is very tired, and she has a fever and is afraid of falling behind others. If they have been working until now, and primary school students don't take exams, rank or publish their grades, then they are not happy to die!

By the time I graduated from junior high school, it was rare for rural children to go to senior high school, but at that time there was an iron rice bowl that many people envied, that is, taking the exam for a normal school. So far, the state has enrolled free normal students in many schools. At that time, it was difficult for us to be admitted to the normal school after graduating from junior high school, but it was an iron rice bowl, and we graduated from the country without paying tuition. I sometimes think that the country has implemented a free policy for normal students for so many years, which shows that the country attaches importance to teachers, but does it also show from another side that students with the same ability and conditions are not necessarily their first choice as teachers? From this perspective, the whole society should really make teachers a respected profession. That year, my first choice was to apply for a normal school, but I was not admitted, which became my lifelong regret. The students who took the senior high school entrance examination and were admitted to the normal school are now the directors of the town education commission, the principals of primary schools and the administrative leaders. It can be said that the normal students at that time were all top students at that time. I believe that even if they were admitted to other majors at that time, they must be the leaders and elites in their respective industries now, but they have devoted their youth to the rural education field and have no regrets so far.

By the time we attend classes in the open-air village primary school classroom, we ruthlessly eliminated a group of parents of our peers in junior high school and senior high school entrance examination. When we graduated from high school, going to college was only the dream of a few people, and there were still many private teachers teaching in the village primary school. At that time, many students, like Sun Shaoping and Hao Hongmei in Ordinary World, went to their respective villages and became private teachers after failing the college entrance examination. A few years later, some of them passed the self-taught examination, some became full members through the policy of "changing the people to the public", and more private teachers, including many of my classmates, were laid off. Those students who turned right, with their constant efforts and tenacious struggle, finally stood firm in the fierce competition with the constantly assigned college students and even graduate students, and won the recognition of the school and students with their actual achievements. They still fight in key primary schools in urban and rural areas and become backbone teachers. They are a generation of teachers who are almost abandoned. Now they have become the backbone teachers in various schools. They are the real pride of our classmates.

It is gratifying that those private teachers who have been dismissed or laid off for various reasons have not been forgotten by the state, but have been registered one by one, and will be subsidized according to their teaching experience after the age of 60. This is a country's best reward for old teachers who have made dedication, and it is also the best encouragement for current teachers.

Happily, my wife is also a teacher. Together with many classmates, she has trained a batch of talents for the northwest rural areas and helped schools in remote areas get rid of poverty. Today, many of them are still fighting in the vast rural campus, educating the dolls who are inseparable from and love the countryside.

Now, the country, society, parents and students have higher and higher requirements for teachers, and teachers' responsibilities are more sacred. Quality education puts forward higher standards for teachers' quality, and the "double reduction" policy makes teachers' workload increase instead of decrease; What children need is the fun of childhood, and what parents want is real achievements; For these, the teachers have no complaints and silently bear it. Some people say that teachers should be as warm as the sun, as warm as the spring breeze, as sweet as a clear spring; Some people say that teachers should have strict fatherly love, delicate maternal love and equal friendship. In fact, teachers are ordinary people who sow hope and happiness. They sow hope because they see the hope of future children. They spread happiness, and our whole society should make them happy in their careers.

The 37th Teacher's Day is coming. I saw news that the family Committee's initiative to buy gifts for teachers was stopped, and some networks said that parents were worried about whether to buy gifts for teachers or not, which caused controversy. In fact, what teachers want most is not tacky gifts, but respect in people's hearts; It is not something that money can measure, but the understanding of parents and students. Let's send the most precious gift in our hearts and shout "Teacher, you have worked hard" on the occasion of Teacher's Day.
