The Historical Evolution of Lion Dance

The lion dance in China has a very long history, with only written records of more than 2,000 years. In the Tang Dynasty (6 18-907), lion dancing was introduced into the palace and became an important part of the Le Yan. After more than two thousand years of lion dance, all localities have their own schools. Ethnic minorities also have different styles of lion dancing. Lion dance is spread all over China, even as far away as Tibet. After the founding of New China, both song and dance troupes and acrobatic troupes performed lion dances as traditional programs, and arranged them according to the different specialties of all walks of life, which became a highlight of dance and acrobatics in China.
