What is Anqing famous for?

Anqing is famous for Huangmei Opera. Anqing, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Anhui Province, is known as the "hometown of Huangmei Opera" and "Millennium Ancient City" in China. Huangmei Opera originated from tea-picking songs in Anqing. Huangmei Opera was not well-known in Hubei at first. Later, Hubei saw that the Huangmei Opera film "Fairy Couple" filmed by Anqing Huangmei Opera actors became famous, so Hubei Huangmei Opera Theatre was built. The only Huangmei Opera Art Festival in China is "China (Anqing) Huangmei Opera Art Festival" held in Anqing. Anyone who has been to Anqing knows that Anqing people speak euphemistically and sing Huangmei Opera is the most authentic. Huangmei Opera culture is deeply rooted in the blood and cells of Anqing people.

This theory overturns the traditional view that Huangmei Opera originated in Huangmei County, Hubei Province.
