The main purpose of this census is to find out the changes of population in China in terms of quantity, structure, regional distribution, education level, migration and living environment since the fifth national census in, so as to provide scientific and accurate population information for making scientific plans for national economic and social development, making overall arrangements for people's material and cultural life, implementing the strategy of sustainable development and building a harmonious socialist society.

Second, the standard time, object and content of the census
