Experience in nursing home service (1)

This is the first time in my life to do volunteer services for the elderly. I have always wanted to do it before, but it was always because I considered other options. Things can't go away without success. This time I finally had the opportunity to work with the members of our volunteer alliance in a senior citizen apartment and interact face-to-face with many seniors to do activities.

This trip to the nursing home volunteer service activity aims to express condolences to the lonely elderly people in the nursing home, let them feel the warmth of the social family, and send them a care and warmth. Respecting the elderly is a traditional virtue of the Chinese nation. However, with the rapid development of social economy and intensified competition, more and more elderly people are being left out. It is places like nursing homes and apartments for the elderly that allow these people in need to find help again. Home, with the warmth of home and the care of love.

Looking at the elderly and lonely old people, the first feeling in my heart was: uncomfortable! Although I was prepared before going, when I saw it with my own eyes, I still couldn’t suppress the sadness in my heart. I have worked hard for my children for most of my life, but now I am in a nursing home when I should be enjoying my old age. The most important thing when treating the elderly is to respect them. Maybe they are indifferent to us, maybe they are not familiar with our accent, maybe they are always distracted during the conversation, maybe their ears are not working well, we must patiently speak to them slowly and ask them questions with concern. According to their living conditions, call them "Grandpa, Grandma" affectionately. The long period of loneliness makes them feel a little closed off. It takes time and care to dissolve this barrier.

Through this volunteer service activity in the nursing home, the students' minds and bodies became clearer, and they understood that sunshine is not stingy in every corner. They opened their hearts to accept the lonely elderly people in the nursing home, giving them joy, blessings and companionship. They go to a better life. At the same time, we call on each of us to start from the small things around us, dedicate our love, and implement the volunteer service purpose of "serving the society and making ourselves happy" to the end.

Today we went to the ** Town Neighborhood Committee to participate in the nursing home activities organized by them. To be honest, the nursing homes here are very dilapidated and cannot be compared with ** nursing homes. Moreover, there are really not enough staff members, so that the aunts there have to do the work of two people.

Then a few of us went to help clean.

Some railings in particular are covered with thick dust. Then we went to fetch water, each of us took a rag and started wiping.

We were in groups of two, and one floor was divided into three parts. Auntie has one portion and we have two portions.

After cleaning for almost half an hour, several younger grandmothers actually started to help us with the labor. Although we were just doing some easy work, we were moved.

This activity lasted for an hour and a half. Because of the hot weather, we were all sweating profusely. But I believe that for every student who participated in this event, today is definitely a good day.

It is always good to help others.

Everyone benefited a lot from this event.

After the last activity, some students and the grandmothers there felt like old friends at first sight, but due to various reasons, there was no opportunity to communicate with the grandmothers.

So we went to the nursing home again.

Still in a group of two, responsible for talking to an old man. Perhaps the daily life of the elderly in the nursing home is relatively monotonous, so at first we only chatted with one elderly person. Later, more and more old people spontaneously joined our chat.

They have recollections of their experiences when they were young, descriptions of their families, and of course complaints about their current lives.

Especially an uncle who is only 48 years old. He was sent here because he was ill. He has been here for almost half a year. In addition to eating, watching TV, and sleeping here. He used to be a person who liked to climb mountains and visit the scenery. In addition, he was the youngest here and could not talk to the elderly at all, so he always had a touch of loneliness on his face.

Then we promised to visit them often in the future. I always feel that it is not good for that uncle's children to do this. I don't care if I leave it here, and my uncle is still so young.

After walking out of the nursing home, the classmate who was chatting with the uncle said with emotion: "I want to treat my parents well. The nursing home is really a lonely place." ?

So I hope everyone can think about their parents and think more about the kindness they have given to their upbringing.

On July 6, I participated in the volunteer service activity at Shawan Nursing Home. There were many students participating in the event that day, and everyone hoped to send warmth and blessings to the elderly.

We all braved the scorching sun and arrived at Shawan by car with excitement and anticipation. When we reached the end of the road, our vision suddenly broadened, and we finally arrived at the Shawan Nursing Home we had been waiting for. We divided the teams and assigned tasks, and everyone went to show off their abilities. Each volunteer holds snacks prepared for the elderly and distributes them to each elderly person. Seeing our arrival, the elderly people all smiled. They sat in the yard enjoying the sunshine and breathing fresh air. When seeing old people, it is natural to think of their grandparents, wondering how they are doing now, and wanting to go home to chat with them and care more about them.

This time it is very meaningful to hold an event in a nursing home. It was my first time to visit an elderly person in a nursing home, which I will never forget. Seeing the happy smiles and proud expressions of the old people makes you feel warm in your heart. In fact, the elderly do not expect their children to make them rich and wealthy. They only need a little more companionship and a little more care, which is the greatest reward for the elderly.

The rain finally stopped a little, but the smiling face of Father-in-law Sun was still missing. The weather was cool, and my body was still shivering from time to time, so I had no choice but to put on a coat. Everything is ready and we set off to the nursing home. On the way, I was thinking about what to do today, but the destination has been arrived. The dean still came to the nursing home early. Before we could speak, the dean spoke, "The weather is so cool today, I will give you a glorious and arduous task to train you. It has just rained. You have planted all the trees." Let’s do some cooking with the vegetables and grass in the field. ?Hey! There's work to do, good, let's get going.

It just rained and the green leaves became greener. Everything looked so vibrant. When I walked to the vegetable field, wow! It was green and there were lots of fruits. It seemed that I had a lot of harvest this year, including loofah and tomatoes. , eggplant, beans, grapes? Everything is available. The dean said that grandparents reclaimed wasteland and sown seeds together. It turned out that this place was full of weeds. Later, everyone felt that it was too wasteful, so they started to tidy it up together. Unexpectedly, this land was so fertile and had produced many fruits for everyone for several years, so everyone's hard work was not wasted. Grandparents were really hardworking in their generation. Even at this age, they still want to find something to do. Maybe they stayed here for too long and really had nothing to do. Grandparents also helped with beans and grapes. Building a shelf. Speaking of which, I have to mention the grapes in our family. The grapes they bear are really big and sweet (don’t ask me how I know this, I just couldn’t hold back when I picked them). The grapevines have spread over a large area, and the shelf The bunches of grapes below make people want to reach out and want to pick one. Later, we roughly pulled up the grass in the ground. Because the ground was wet, the grass blades were easy to pull out, and it was all done in a while.

Back in the house, the dean had washed the grapes for everyone to eat. The grandparents tried their best to let us eat. When we said we had eaten, they said, "There are no children here. How many of you are there?" Such a kind-hearted child, if you like to eat, eat more. We don’t have anything delicious here. If you have it, you have to entertain your grandparents well. My grandparents said so, so just eat it. I’m really sorry. It’s such an honor to have grandparents who are so kind, but think about it, grandparents almost all have children and grandchildren, and we often don’t see them. When we see them, we can’t help but think of our own children! There’s not much we can do. I need to honor them for a few days and let them really experience the feeling of being grandparents! I have to work hard in the next few days!!! fighting!!!!

At 8 o'clock in the morning on May 26, a group of 40 volunteers from xx Medical College came to Haikou xx Home for the Elderly on time as usual to provide volunteer services. In the hot summer of May, their arrival every weekend brings refreshing coolness and happiness to the elderly. Although it is just simple things such as pushing the old man out to bask in the sun, doing household chores, giving him a massage, and cleaning the house, it shows that contemporary college students are a good example of respecting, respecting, and loving the elderly in China. They show respect for the elderly. The inheritance of the traditional virtue of loving children.

A group of ten people, some sweep the floor and wash the windows, some take the elderly out for a walk, massage and scrub the elderly, each performing their duties and working enthusiastically. Ju Yan, who is in the 2012 medical laboratory class, is from Anhui. She usually likes to read books about massage. When giving massages to the elderly, her techniques are skillful and the strength is appropriate, which makes her very popular with the elderly. ?The old people are very kind and cute. I am very happy to chat with them. ?Juyan is studying alone in xx. She will inevitably be lonely and homesick when she is far away from her hometown. She feels that the elderly are also lonely like her. Seeing those old people, Just like seeing her grandparents, coming to XX House made her, a student from a foreign land, feel the warmth of home. Finally, Ju Yan said, "Everyone of us will grow old, and we hope to get more people's care."

In the days to come, I will do my best to make my grandparents happier. Another classmate Wei Wei, majoring in midwifery, said that he had been to a similar nursing home before and felt that the elderly in xx Home were more kind and friendly, and that they should take care of the elderly carefully. Ye Qing, a classmate next to him, also said that everyone is willing to get close to the elderly, but they are afraid that they do not know the nursing knowledge and will hurt the elderly, so he suggested that the apartment staff can provide them with some training and tell them some precautions and techniques. Avoiding accidents also allows volunteers to learn more about the elderly. And another one from Fujian?, he is mainly responsible for scrubbing the fans in the apartment today. The weather was hot, and without a fan, his clothes became wet with sweat after a while, but he still carefully scrubbed the fans in each room. He said that he had also done volunteer work before, but only for things like picking up garbage in Wanlv Park. Today, he came into contact with the elderly and felt that they were pitiful without their family members. Although he was very tired today, it was more meaningful than picking up garbage. He expressed his hope to the families of the elderly. Come and see them often.

I am very happy that these students sacrificed their weekend break to come see us. Thank them. Grandma Du on the second floor held the hands of the volunteers and said. With the progress of society, there are more and more volunteers, but volunteers like the volunteers of xx Medical College are very rare and worthy of praise for their persistence and volunteer service regardless of rain or shine.

At 11:30 noon, the volunteers reluctantly said goodbye to the old man: Today is the last day of our volunteer plan for this semester, but our plan for the next semester has also come out. We will continue to love to the end ?Every old man and every volunteer has two lines of tears.

On February 26, the class was composed of Gao?, Shi?, Shen?, Wu?, Liu?, Zhang?, Shen? and other students The service team went to the nursing home in Xinzhuang Town to provide services.

We all felt a lot about this event.

When we went there in advance, we did not tell the management staff about our intention to serve, but when we explained the reason for our arrival, they warmly welcomed us.

The facilities in the nursing home are very good. Some of the elderly are resting in their rooms and some are chatting in the corridor.

A group of students went to the corridor to chat with the elderly and ask them how they spent the Spring Festival. Yes, how is your health lately? The old people were very touched. One grandfather in particular was moved to tears when he heard that we came to visit them voluntarily and that he used to be a teacher. He was very touched and repeatedly praised the quality of school education. We were also really happy.

Another group of students went to the room of an old man who was over ninety years old to chat with him and listen to him tell stories about his past. It was very interesting for everyone to listen to it. Grandpa’s thinking was very clear and he communicated with everyone very cordially.

The old people later warmly invited us to visit their restaurant, which contained photos of their Spring Festival party.

We agreed to visit them every two weeks, and they all laughed happily.

I hope the elderly live a healthy and happy life in the nursing home! We will often see you, chat with you, and bring you joy!

Friday seems to be as ordinary as in the past, but due to volunteer activities, this Friday is not so ordinary. Although the wind was biting when I woke up early in the morning, when I thought about going to the nursing home to provide warmth to the elderly in the cold weather, my body couldn't help but feel warm.

When I stepped on the bus, I felt that I was one step closer to my destination. I couldn't help but feel excited. It was so pleasant to be able to do such a warm thing in the cold winter! In less than an hour, we arrived at our destination? The nursing home, marking the official start of our activities today. After the social workers of the nursing home told us the relevant precautions, we collectively came to the fifth floor to carry out our work. When I arrived on the fifth floor, I felt like a peaceful environment. I didn't know why my heart suddenly became calm. Maybe it's because places with elderly people always give people a sense of peace.

The first thing that caught our eyes was two old people sitting quietly on chairs, waiting for our arrival. First of all, the first program to be performed was the singing of red songs, and I was one of them. When the slogan of one, two, three sounded, we all immediately sang out, and the singing became louder. After "Love My China", then "Singing the Motherland", and then "My Chinese Heart", red songs one after another aroused the patriotic enthusiasm of the elderly. The elderly people couldn't help but beat the time with us with their hands. You can really see that they are integrated into this lively atmosphere just like us. Perhaps this warm atmosphere infected us. While singing red songs loudly, we walked towards the old man involuntarily. When the song ended, the parents-in-law gave us warm applause. Then the next program was the singing of Hakka songs. At this time, I walked behind my parents-in-law and enjoyed the singing with them. In the meantime, I saw a mother-in-law singing along with the song, and I suddenly felt that the elderly are actually like children. As long as we are willing to patiently give them care and love, they will feel very happy and happy. What they actually want is not material things. What they need is more of our practical concern.

When it’s time to chat with my parents-in-law, I find that they need our listening more. I was chatting with a lovely old lady. When I complimented her on how beautiful her clothes were, the old lady smiled broadly. She told me that her daughter had given it to her many years ago and she would wear it every winter. At that time, I suddenly realized that the old woman's smile was particularly beautiful, because it was a smile from her heart. That dress is full of the old woman's daughter's love for the old woman. It is a happy mother-daughter feeling. When the old lady talked about the poor living conditions when she was young and couldn't even read, I couldn't help but feel a little sad.

But the old woman was very open-minded. She said that was all in the past. Now life is very good and her children have happy families.

Especially when the old woman talked about her grandson becoming a traffic policeman after finishing college, the corners of the old woman’s mouth couldn’t help but curl up. Crouching in front of the old lady, I was instantly moved. That was the most beautiful smile in the world. In fact, what the elderly need is not the material things that our children and grandchildren occasionally give them once or twice. What they need is the care that we often give them in our daily lives. Even a greeting, a hug, a listening ear. When the gifts were distributed at the end, my father-in-law and mother-in-law laughed sincerely when they received the socks we sent. It was like the feeling of warm sunshine shining on the body on a cold winter day. I know they are really happy, and I feel that our trip today was not in vain. The smiles of parents-in-law are the final reward.

When today’s urban life is getting busier and busier, and people’s pace is getting faster and faster, should we slow down in this environment, feel the warmth around us, and How about caring about our families and discovering the beauty of life? A city with love cannot be achieved by the efforts of some people alone, but requires everyone to contribute their share of love. Let the drops of love slowly gather together, let love fill our lives, and let us find the existence of love everywhere.
