Today we went to the ** Town Neighborhood Committee to participate in the nursing home activities organized by them. To be honest, the nursing homes here are very dilapidated and cannot be compared with ** nursing homes. Moreover, there are really not enough staff members, so that the aunts there have to do the work of two people.

Then a few of us went to help clean.

Some railings in particular are covered with thick dust. Then we went to fetch water, each of us took a rag and started wiping.

We were in groups of two, and one floor was divided into three parts. Auntie has one portion and we have two portions.

After cleaning for almost half an hour, several younger grandmothers actually started to help us with the labor. Although we were just doing some easy work, we were moved.

This activity lasted for an hour and a half. Because of the hot weather, we were all sweating profusely. But I believe that for every student who participated in this event, today is definitely a good day.

After the last activity, some students and the grandmothers there felt like old friends at first sight, but due to various reasons, there was no opportunity to communicate with the grandmothers.

Still in a group of two, responsible for talking to an old man. Perhaps the daily life of the elderly in the nursing home is relatively monotonous, so at first we only chatted with one elderly person. Later, more and more old people spontaneously joined our chat.

They have recollections of their experiences when they were young, descriptions of their families, and of course complaints about their current lives.

Especially an uncle who is only 48 years old. He was sent here because he was ill. He has been here for almost half a year. In addition to eating, watching TV, and sleeping here. After walking out of the nursing home, the classmate who was chatting with the uncle said with emotion: "I want to treat my parents well. The nursing home is really a lonely place." ?

On July 6, I participated in the volunteer service activity at Shawan Nursing Home. There were many students participating in the event that day, and everyone hoped to send warmth and blessings to the elderly.

We all braved the scorching sun and arrived at Shawan by car with excitement and anticipation. When we reached the end of the road, our vision suddenly broadened, and we finally arrived at the Shawan Nursing Home we had been waiting for. We divided the teams and assigned tasks, and everyone went to show off their abilities. Each volunteer holds snacks prepared for the elderly and distributes them to each elderly person. Seeing our arrival, the elderly people all smiled. They sat in the yard enjoying the sunshine and breathing fresh air. When seeing old people, it is natural to think of their grandparents, wondering how they are doing now, and wanting to go home to chat with them and care more about them.

A group of ten people, some sweep the floor and wash the windows, some take the elderly out for a walk, massage and scrub the elderly, each performing their duties and working enthusiastically.
