There is a nearly 400-year-old tree growing on the campus of Yangwei Middle School in Oumiao Town The cypress tree has a crown coverage of about 80 square meters, a diameter at breast height of about 1.5 meters, and a height of about 20 meters.

A few years ago, due to lightning strikes, the main branches of the cypress trees were broken off, and the crown area was greatly reduced. In recent years, many tree holes have appeared in the cypress trees, which may have been eaten by termites.

Yangwei Middle School carefully cared for it, expanded the scope of tree root protection, and reported the growth status to the relevant departments in a timely manner. After hearing the news, the Oumiao Town Committee and Town Government immediately invited the leaders of the Xiangcheng District Forestry Bureau to visit the site for inspection and guidance.

Ancient trees are the accumulation of ancient history and rich culture in our hometown. For the healthy growth of ancient trees, we specially applied to the Xiangcheng District Forestry Bureau for ancient tree protection. We do have difficulties in protecting and managing ancient trees.
