"Seven Pa Shuo" # When parents are outdated and opinionated, do we shut up or argue? #

1. Different times have outdated concepts, which are not absolutely outdated, but relatively outdated. In the eyes of a new generation, our ideas are not out of date.

2. Parents have lived for decades, and outdated concepts are the brand of the times they have passed, their life experiences, and the "truth" and "old people's words" that they can be proud of. It's just that the times are moving too fast and we have to abandon them. Were they killed by your so-called "new ideas"?

How can there be new ideas without old ideas? The new concept is by no means to defeat the old out of thin air, but to generate new ideas through continuous understanding and communication, excavation and criticism. Therefore, don't try to change what is obsolete, but try to gain more understanding through communication on the premise of understanding the behind of parents' obsolescence. You just have to understand that you don't have to force it to change.

When you choose to argue with your parents, isn't it also stubborn? A kind of disdain and arrogance? Because the world is not black and white, there is no need to argue at all.

4. All debates and arguments are in the extreme of black and white, and they hold their own opinions, trust each other and pull each other, while real life will smooth your edges and make you no longer believe that nothing can't be changed. Repeated psychological struggles and self-persuasion make you give up the entanglement of yourself and how to treat yourself. The ideal state is that we go from the two poles to the middle, understand each other and respect each other.

6. Speaking of "opinionated", I think of my father and grandfather. When we were young and inexperienced, they instilled their "old ideas" in us. When we grow up, we accept "new ideas", which are incompatible with their ideas. We began to resist, trying to convince them and defeat them ideologically. When I can't beat them, I will try to understand them first and then convince them. I even think that parents should grow up with us in the process of education, but I ignore that their growth rate is much slower than ours. I can't force them to grow up immediately, overthrow the mountain of "old ideas", make friends with us and understand us.
