How to learn calligraphy
Which font should I start learning calligraphy? Calligraphers have different views on this issue. Official script is easier to read and write than seal script, but compared with regular script, stippling is more flexible, less rigid and its structure is easy to distribute, so it is difficult to learn official script well and then learn official script easily. As far as beginners are concerned, it is not easy to learn any font well if they want to get a glimpse of its popularity and reach a profound artistic realm.
Su Dongpo, a calligrapher in the Song Dynasty, said: Truth is like standing, walking is like walking, and grass is like walking. ? It means regular script is like standing, running script is like walking, cursive script is like running. Models here refer to models and models. Regular script stippling is clear, well-proportioned, square and well-behaved, suitable for beginners. As for which font beginners should start with, different people have different opinions, so it is unnecessary and impossible to stick to the same principle. As long as you master the right method and work hard, you can succeed from any font, which can be said that all roads lead to the same goal. But the time and energy spent and the distance needed may be completely different. On this issue, I still stubbornly believe that it is appropriate to start with the model.
Regular script has taken shape since Han Dynasty, and it was very popular in Wei and Jin Dynasties. In Sui and Tang Nai, it was a great success. Which dynasty should beginners learn?
I think from Tang Kai, there are rules to follow, and strokes can be written in square, round and straight lines, with appropriate length and weight and stable structure, thus laying a solid foundation.
Some people think that the laws in Tang Kai are very strict, and it is easy to be bound by these strict rules when studying. However, beginners are advised to start from the Wei and Jin Dynasties, saying that this can make the writing naive and unrestrained. I think it is necessary to write these words in Gu Zhuo, handsome, solemn, elegant, magnificent, unique, solemn or flying. In a word, it has certain style characteristics. For beginners, we should try our best to keep the structure tidy. As sun said: beginners learn distribution, but seek fairness; Knowing that justice is right, we must pursue danger; It can not only avoid danger, but also restore justice. ? The regular script written by Ou Yangxun, a calligrapher in the early Tang Dynasty, is beautiful in brushwork and rigorous in structure, which has a great influence on later generations. The European-style book Huangfujun Tablet best represents the heroic style of the European-style book, which is the clearest and most impressive among the published European-style words. The calligraphy of Jiuchenggong Liquan Ming is simple and heavy, vigorous and strong, and pursues rigor and steadiness. Liang spoke highly of European words and said:? Write a thorough European book, and the monument can be written. ? Yang Shoujing in Qing Dynasty said: Ouyang Xin's "Li Quan Ming" and Zhao Zigu's "Li Quan Ming" are the ultimate principles of the law, and no one opposes them. ? At the age of 44, Yan Zhenqing, a calligrapher in the Middle Tang Dynasty, wrote Many Pagodas and Monuments, most of which were written by Fang Bi. The horizontal light and vertical weight are in sharp contrast, full of three-dimensional sense, and the structure is neat and rigorous, suitable for beginners. Some of Yan Zhenqing's works in his later years are full of brushwork and rich in structure, and often pursue innocence and return to the original interest. Beginners tend to be bloated and ugly, so they should not be used as a way to get started.
Liu Gongquan, a calligrapher in the late Tang Dynasty, wrote Mysterious Tower Monument and Shence Army Monument with Fiona Fang and pen. The brushwork is clear and vigorous, just like clanking iron bones, and you can get thin and hard strokes and rigorous structure after learning in all directions.
