Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, also known as Dongfeng Space City, is the earliest launch test base for launch vehicles built in China. It is located in Ejina, Alxa League, Inner Mongolia within the flag. This is the main base for testing and launching the Long March series of launch vehicles, various test satellites in medium and low orbits, application satellites, manned spacecraft and rocket missiles. The base is also responsible for debris recovery, astronaut emergency rescue and other tasks. As of October 1, 2016, China had launched approximately 280 satellites, 82 of which were launched from Jiuquan.

Sunny days, low cloud cover, long sunshine hours, and difficult living conditions can provide good natural environmental conditions for space launches. There are approximately 300 days per year for launch tests.
