Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology was established in 1978, located in Daxing District, Beijing. It is an ordinary institution of higher learning in Beijing. It is a full member of the first batch of "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program", CDIO engineering education reform pilot universities, high-level athletes enrollment qualification universities, Beijing deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform demonstration universities and CDIO international cooperation organizations.

At present, there are three authorized master's programs in materials science and engineering, control science and engineering, and business administration, as well as the authorized master's degree program in engineering. The undergraduate major is 3 1, covering engineering, science, management, economics, literature and other disciplines.

The school adheres to the strategy of characteristic development and research-oriented education, focusing on energy science and technology innovation, and has formed distinctive research characteristics in the fields of energy engineering equipment, clean energy chemicals, urban safety production, environmental protection and comprehensive utilization of resources, as well as related technical and economic management and cultural construction.

At present, there are 4 key construction disciplines in Beijing, 5 key laboratories in Beijing, universities in Beijing 1 Engineering Research Center, and research base of philosophy and social sciences in Beijing 1. The collaborative innovation center of clean energy (oil and gas) supply and use safety technology, Zhongguancun Energy Engineering Intelligent Equipment Industry Technology Research Institute, Beijing Safety Production Engineering Technology Research Institute and postdoctoral research center have been established.

There are 6 national engineering education certification majors, 3 characteristic majors of the Ministry of Education, 8 pilot majors of "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan", 1 pilot major of "Undergraduate Teaching Engineering" and 5 characteristic majors of Beijing. Won two national teaching achievement awards, including National Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center 1 each, National Engineering Practice Education Center 2, and National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center 1 each.

Industry-University-Research Cooperative Talent Training Base has been established successively with Yanshan Petrochemical Company and other 130 enterprises and institutions, which is the first national experimental base for cooperative education in Industry-University-Research.

In addition, it has established long-term and stable cooperative relations with more than 30 universities and scientific research institutions in Britain, France, Germany, the United States, Norway and other countries. Every year, a certain proportion of graduate students and undergraduates go to universities in Europe and America for study and training.
