On March 8th, Sun Wei, a representative of the 13th National People's Congress, talked about delaying retirement and suggested implementing a flexible retirement mechanism in a wider scope: for example, taking the current age of 60 as the standard age, fluctuating up and down 15 years. This means we should allow people to choose early retirement at the age of 45. This can give full play to the function of social security; Provide a new way to relieve the pressure of providing for the aged; Helps to alleviate the decline in birth rate; Can restore family function; It provides new possibilities for individuals to participate in society better and longer.

2. It is suggested to advance the retirement age of rural women.

On March 6, 2022, Yue Xihuan, a deputy to the National People's Congress, said that at this stage, ordinary female employees in China retire at the age of 50, and female cadres retire at the age of 55, while rural women can only enjoy old-age insurance benefits at the age of 60, which is ten years later than urban female employees. Therefore, she suggested that the retirement age of rural women with no fixed income should be adjusted to 50 years under the condition that the current urban and rural basic old-age insurance policy implemented by the government remains unchanged.

3. It is suggested to introduce a policy to delay the retirement age of teachers.

During the two sessions in 2022, Commissioner Xie, president of Guangxi University for Nationalities, suggested that in order to make up for the shortage of teachers at all stages and ensure the quality of education, it is suggested that teachers, especially rural primary and secondary school teachers, should be issued as soon as possible to extend their retirement policies and encourage old teachers who can return to work. In 2022, the two sessions did not stipulate the retirement age. The current retirement age in this country is 60 for men, 50 for women workers and 55 for women employees. However, it is worth noting that since 2022, some parts of China have begun to delay retirement. For example, Jiangsu province began to implement voluntary delayed retirement from March 1. When reaching the retirement age stipulated by the state, units and individuals who want to postpone retirement can apply to the local human resources department for at least one year.
