Hechai 1972 retains the original texture of the Hefei Diesel Engine Factory and does not involve major demolition or construction. Based on the structural characteristics and architectural culture of the original industrial remains, secondary design and renovation were carried out. The home appliance industry is one of the most representative industries in Hefei. In the first phase of renovation of Hechai 1972, old buildings in the park were used to transform and update them into the "Hefei Home Appliances Story Museum" that highlights the development of home appliances.

The museum area includes the Old Home Appliances Story Hall, the Smart Home Appliances Exhibition Hall, the Future Home Experience Hall and the Creative Home Appliances Market. The mottled red brick walls, the renovation slogans that can be seen everywhere, the 12,000-square-meter large dome workshop, etc., all overflow with the profound architectural culture and the shocking sense of history.

In August 1954, the construction of the Hefei Prison-Feixi Xinsheng Kiln Factory began on a desert island surrounded by water on three sides in Guan Town, Feixi County. At that time, Feixi Xinsheng Kiln Factory had 10 earthen kilns, and the production used a simple process of oxen and clay, and hand-held blanks. In 1957, Feixi Xinsheng Kiln Factory was renamed Hefei Brick and Tile Factory.
