In 2002, in the overall level evaluation of the first-level disciplines in China, the disciplines related to the college: electronic science and technology ranked second, information and communication engineering ranked third, and the three two disciplines corresponding to the above-mentioned first-level disciplines: communication and information system, electromagnetic field and microwave technology, and circuit and system were rated as national key disciplines with the first, second and fifth places respectively.

The Institute of Telecommunication Engineering has strong scientific research strength, is innovative and realistic, and focuses on building key laboratories of the Ministry of Education, circuits and systems, multimedia communication, optical communication and wireless communication. He has undertaken and completed a number of key scientific research projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation, national key research projects, national 863 plan, national 973 plan and provincial and ministerial level. At the same time, we have extensive contacts with domestic and foreign scientific research institutions and enterprises, and have undertaken a large number of horizontal scientific research tasks by establishing joint laboratories or scientific research cooperation. More than 20 units have carried out scientific research cooperation with the college, and established more than 10 joint laboratories with the college.

With the careful training of college teachers and the active efforts of students, the comprehensive quality of students has been improved in an all-round way and remarkable achievements have been made in study, work and life. Over the years, the number of winners in various competitions at or above the municipal level has accounted for about 50% of the total number of winners in schools; There are also three excellent students, outstanding student cadres, advanced class collectives and outstanding league branches at the municipal level. In all kinds of cultural and sports activities and competitions in the school, the students of electric power college are always active on the high platform.

Over the past 50 years, students from the Institute of Telecommunication Engineering have spread all over the country and all continents. The School of Telecommunications has been handed down from generation to generation, and it has been struggling endlessly. After half a century of cultural heritage, it is famous at home and abroad, with fragrant peaches and plums. By the end of 2005, our college had trained more than 2 1000 undergraduate graduates, more than 2,500 master graduates, more than 400 doctoral graduates, more than 3,000 graduates from various majors and more than 2,000 graduates from technical secondary schools. The graduates of Telecommunication Engineering College are favored and praised by the society for their good professional quality, solid theoretical foundation and practical working attitude. The employment rate of graduate students has been kept at 100%, the employment rate of undergraduates is about 98%, and the proportion of undergraduates admitted to graduate schools is about 50%, ranking among the best in universities in China.
