Slogan of pontoon bridge erection

Jianchunmen pontoon bridge, also known as Donghe pontoon bridge, was built in the Song Dynasty (1 163). It is located on the banks of the Gongjiang River outside Jianchun Gate in Ganzhou, with a history of more than 800 years. Together with the quaint and spectacular ancient city wall of Song Dynasty, Bajiangtai and Yongjinmen, it constitutes a unique landscape of Ganzhou and is known as a must in Ganzhou.

During the Song Dynasty, Ganzhou was surrounded by water on three sides. For trade, three pontoons, Donghe, Xihe and Nanhe, were built on the Zhanghe and Gonghe rivers at that time, connecting Hunan, Fujian and Jiangxi. After the founding of New China, the highway bridge was erected, and the Xihe and Nanhe pontoons were demolished, leaving only the Donghe pontoon.

The pontoon bridge is about 400 meters long and the bridge deck is 5 meters wide. It consists of 65,438+000 wooden boats connected by cables and fixed on the river with iron anchors. The boat was placed on the beam, and then planks were laid to connect the old town of Ganzhou and shuidong town, zhanggong district. Because it can float up and down with the increase of water surface, it has never been washed away for more than 800 years and is still in normal traffic.

Seen from a distance, the pontoon bridge looks like a long dragon crossing the river. Although there was no advanced bridge-building equipment in ancient times, the quality of Chunmen pontoon bridge was so high that people hardly felt vibration when walking on it, which perfectly demonstrated the wisdom and skills of ancient craftsmen in China. Now it has become a "national treasure" cultural relic in Ganzhou.

The pontoon bridge lying across the river facilitates the communication between the people on both sides of the strait, but it also hinders the ships transported on the river. To this end, the pontoon bridge is opened regularly every day to facilitate the passage of merchant ships. When the pontoon bridge is open every day, the city wall and pontoon bridge are crowded with tourists watching the excitement, which has become a scene in Ganzhou. Because the pontoon bridge is made of wooden boats, it is easy to rot. In order to maintain the normal traffic of the pontoon bridge, it is necessary to repair and replace the rotten parts in time. The bridge deck needs to be replaced every month, and it takes shipbuilders more than a week to build a new wooden boat.

At present, the ancient manual maintenance and construction technology is still used for the wooden boat building the Chunmen pontoon bridge. After wood screening, batching and cutting, it is spliced with oak boards, and the process is very complicated. Many shipbuilders have been involved in the maintenance of the pontoon bridge for decades. They have been overhauling and maintaining the pontoon bridge day after day, just to make the old pontoon bridge benefit more pedestrians.

Although a new highway bridge across the river has been built not far from the pontoon bridge, it is more convenient to cross the river than before, but many Ganzhou people are still used to taking the pontoon bridge. If there is an opportunity, you might as well come here for a walk.
