The ancestral temple is the most magnificent building in the village and a symbol of Huizhou people's money, wealth and authority. It is the spiritual sustenance, soul destination and human nature return of the clan; It is also a place for family gatherings, ancestor worship, deliberation, punishment and marriage.

In the middle of the north bank of Moon Bay in Hongcun, there is a "Xu Letang", also known as the "Family Hall", which is the ancestral hall of the Wangs. It was built in15th century (A.D. 1403) during the Yongle period in the early Ming Dynasty.

Lexutang and Moon Lake form one of the eight scenic spots in Hongcun, Moon Lake Wind Lotus. It's a pity that we haven't heard the wind or seen the lotus now, so we can only use our imagination!

The whole ancestral temple was built in the center of the village, with a prominent position and beautiful scenery. The sequential design of ancestral hall space and the landscape-oriented environment add a sense of aura and mystery, which makes people feel solemn, solemn and awe.

The gatehouse hall is well preserved, the architectural style still retains the characteristics of the Ming Dynasty, and the lotus supports and carved patterns on the moon beams are simple and elegant; The middle gate is tall, showing the prominent position of the family.

The ancestral hall consists of a gatehouse, a front yard, a deliberation hall and a pleasure hall. This is the crescent moon bay seen from the front gatehouse.

In 2004, the relevant government departments allocated1160,000 yuan to repair the damaged ancestral hall, and now obvious old and new traces can be seen on the wall.

Entering the front yard, you can see the wall-hung gatehouse (also known as Wufeng Tower) with four pillars and three to five points, which is magnificent. The words "Rong En" and "Shide's birthplace" are written in the middle of the gatehouse, which indicates the prosperity of the family. The word box is surrounded by exquisite brick carvings, with auspicious patterns such as double dragon playing beads, taking the lead and lion playing balls.

The entrance is a spacious room where the clan holds important activities and consultations. A row of six screens in Yingmen wrote "A Brief Account of Four Qi Gong Le", which recorded the whole process of seventy-six ancestors of Hongcun asking Yiyou Yin to name the Wang Ancestral Hall. "Xu Le Soup" has the meanings of rank, loyalty, eternal achievement and happiness.

On the back of the screen is written "Zhu Zi's Family Instructions" by Zhu, a native of Wuyuan, Huizhou, a representative of "Zhu Cheng Neo-Confucianism". This kind of family instruction has also become the moral standard of Huizhou Confucian scholars. At that time, they adhered to the principle of "reading Zhu Zhi's book, serving Zhu Zhi's teaching, grasping Zhu Zhi's gift, and treating themselves with Zou Lu's body", taking Zhu Sangang and the Five Permanent Members as the justice, and safeguarding the justice, and they could lay down their lives for the justice.

The tour guide said that the main hall was changed to the headquarters of the production team at 1963, and now it has been restored to its original appearance.

Wang Hongcun is a descendant of Hua Wang, a famous minister in Tang Dynasty. Hua Wang (A.D. 586-649), formerly known as Wang Shihua, was a descendant of Ying Chuan Hou of Lu in the Spring and Autumn Period because he avoided using the word "tianxia". At the end of Sui Dynasty, Hua Wang planned a mutiny, won six countries, including Zhangzhou and Hangzhou, and called himself the Prince of Wu. Later, it was attributed to the Tang Dynasty, and it was named Zhuguo and Yuegong, which had a great influence in all parts of the ancient emblem and was remembered for a long time. Therefore, in the Wang family, there is a complex sentence of "the program is more than Guo Cuiying". Most of the stone carvings above the rolling door of the ancient street in the village are "Pingyang Ancient County".

In the first year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty, Shu Qi Village, the earliest residence of Hongcun ancestors in yi county, was destroyed by war. Yan Jigong, the sixty-sixth ancestor of Wang, moved to Leigang according to his ancestral training and built the thirteenth floor, naming Hongcun in the name of prosperity. Later, during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, it was renamed Hongcun because of taboo.

The red couplet hanging on the post next to the ancestor statue is "Kikai Leigang Mianshize" to tell future generations the origin and history of the royal family.

Most of the couplets and aphorisms displayed in Xu Letang are quite philosophical, such as "You don't do good because of retribution, so you can't start reading for fame". Educating future generations to do good and study must have correct motives, and at the same time emphasize the pursuit of life in doing good and studying; Similarly, there is a strong philosophy, which means that to restrain one's desires and shortcomings, one must start from the most difficult places, do good things for a long time, start from small things, do not do good things, and do not do bad things; The "Great Harmony without Elders, Unity of Heaven and Man" in the back hall shows the ancestors' pursuit of harmonious coexistence between people and between people and nature.
