The Historical Evolution of Sidian Town

Sidian Town is the first town of General China. During the revolutionary war years, the red flag did not fall and the fighting continued. Nearly 2,000 people in the township died heroically for the revolution and made great contributions to the China revolution. In the early days of liberation, there were more than 50 old Red Army members living abroad in Sidian, and 9 of them were awarded the rank of Major General or above, including 2 Lieutenant Generals. Sidian Township is a special care township in the county, with a total of 350 special care recipients in the township.

Sidian Township is a red land. During the Second Revolutionary Civil War, this was the central area of the revolutionary base areas in Hubei, Henan and Anhui. Countless revolutionary martyrs fought bravely here, fought wave after wave, shed blood and sacrificed, wrote earth-shattering stories, staged magnificent dramas, and created great achievements in history. Nine American generals, including Zheng Weishan, were trained here, and more than 2,000 outstanding sons and daughters, including Gui and Gui Hengrong, gave their precious lives.

Sidian Township is rich in "red". There are cultural relics protection units such as Guibuchan Martyrs Revolutionary Activities Memorial Site, Macheng District Peasant Self-Defense Forces Command, Peasant Self-Defense Forces Beijiehe Battle Site, and Anti-Japanese Wall Slogans. The scenic spot of General Zheng Weishan's hometown was rated as Xinyang Revolutionary Traditional Education Demonstration Base.
