After receiving the task, Garrett held a two-day meeting internally to urgently study the arrangement of returning to work. The original plan was to transport the tooling involved in this project from Wuhan factory to Shanghai factory for production.
But after evaluation, they soon found that this plan would not work. Because the city and the road are closed, the tooling can't be transported. Moreover, if you go to Shanghai for production, there may be a problem that the products are inconsistent with the announcement of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in addition to the inconsistent tooling and equipment of both parties.
After careful consideration, on February 1 day, Garrett launched the second plan: to organize employees of Wuhan factory to carry out production.
At that time, COVID-19 was still raging everywhere, and the number of confirmed cases was increasing. Starting production in Wuhan factory is not only risky, but also faces various practical difficulties.
Garrett initiated voluntary recruitment among employees in Wuhan. After all safety measures and epidemic prevention preparations were made, a production line was started. From February 6 to 9, 7 employees raced against time in the workshop, and more than 40 people assisted remotely in the rear. With the cooperation of many parties, the production task was finally successfully completed.
On February 16, auto business review interviewed Ke Yanhua, the head of Garrett Wuhan Factory, and learned about the whole process of their resumption of work and production of supercharger. We have seen the responsibility of a multinational auto parts enterprise and a group of ordinary Wuhan people in an extraordinary period.

Garrett Wuhan factory was established on 20 13, producing turbochargers for passenger cars and small commercial vehicles, and is located at No.3, Foziling Third Road, Donghu New Technology Industrial Development Zone, Wuhan.
"Because of the city closure, when we communicated with employees in the first round, employees were still a little scared." Ke Yanhua told auto business review.
In order to dispel employees' worries, we must make the guarantee plan for returning to work to the extreme. Wuhan factory communicated repeatedly with colleagues in Shanghai, disease control experts from various channels and hospital representatives from all sides. At least five versions of the protection plan were made before and after, and finally formed.
The protection scheme takes time as the axis, and takes every risk exposure point into account according to the movement of people's physical location. There are a series of detailed regulations, including how employees leave home, how to take the shuttle bus, how to disinfect the shuttle bus, how to measure their body temperature after work, how to contact the products on the production line, how many meters apart, how to eat, what to pay attention to when going to the toilet, what to pay attention to when they get off work, and how to report safety when they finally get home.
Everything put the safety of employees first. After the plan was determined, Garrett began to train and publicize employees.
After that, the employees of the two classes voluntarily signed up. After careful consideration, the management chose the employees of one class to come to work, and the employees of the other class were prepared at home, so that they could immediately take over in case of any abnormal situation.
Garrett began to pay attention to the epidemic situation in the middle of June 5438+ 10. Combined with the advice of the World Health Organization, he made some preparations in advance, not only decisively canceled the annual meeting of the company, but also reminded employees to do personal protection, wear masks and not go to crowded places with information about respiratory diseases.
On the 29th of the twelfth lunar month, Wuhan was closed, and the situation was even more severe. Garrett urgently launched the health applet that day and began to track the daily health status of employees. It is precisely because of employees' continuous health records that it is easier to identify suitable employees when preparing for returning to work in the future.
"From the 29th day of the twelfth lunar month to the 6th day of February, it happened to be 14 days and 1 4 days, so we took the 6th day as the node for inspection, and he signed up. The past 14 days were healthy, so we will let him come." Ke Yanhua said.
In this way, 17 employees who meet the health conditions, have no history of epidemic contact and meet the conditions of home isolation undertook this task.
The problem of employees has been solved, and there are still some problems to be solved in Wuhan factory.
Due to the lack of individual raw materials, Garrett Shanghai team mobilized supplier partners to help investigate the inventory, and then sent things to Shanghai first, and then transported them to Wuhan through SF's green channel;
Lack of protective materials, the Shanghai team and overseas headquarters helped to allocate, and bought some masks and protective clothing for Wuhan employees;
Before construction, the factory should be fully disinfected, and the government of Wuhan East Lake New Technology Industrial Development Zone provided some disinfection equipment.
Finally, all the preparations have been completed.

Before returning to work, Garrett Wuhan factory had already reported to the local government department.
At 8 o'clock on the morning of February 6, the weather was very cold. After re-checking the protection scheme and protective equipment, the factory officially started.
Based on the principle of the least number of people arriving at the site, in the end, a team of seven people undertook the production task of the factory, and the factory director Ke Yanhua personally went into battle and took over some auxiliary stations.
"The equipment has stopped for more than ten days. The first day of production was a cold start. When the staff saw that the output was not much, they took the initiative to ask me if I could add an extra class. They told me that they were willing to do it because they felt that what they were doing was to help Wuhan. " Ke Yanhua told auto business review.
For the sake of health and efficiency, everyone seldom talks during the whole production process, and eating is to eat instant noodles continuously. The machines roared in the workshop, and everyone was racing against time to get to work.
Several employees all live near the company. Every morning, employees wear masks and gloves to go out of the house, or drive or take a specially arranged shuttle bus to work in the company. When the main city of Wuhan is closed, they can still go out at that time, because Garrett's factory is not in the central city.
"Give employees three masks every day and go home from work. We hope that he will change the mask used at work and not take it home, just to make him feel safe enough. " Director Ke added: "Otherwise he will be afraid, I think."
Complete a project
Several employees working in the field are not making this product and this production line, but a temporary assembly line. In order to ensure product quality, Garrett arranged more than 40 engineers, quality, maintenance, logistics and other teams to provide remote online guidance on WeChat.
From 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, eight hours a day, several young employees persisted for four days from February 6 to 9, and finally completed the production of 900 superchargers.
The next step is to cooperate with logistics, warehousing and packaging materials, and environmental protection to deliver products.
Jiangling motors specially applied for a special train from Nanchang to Wuhan to transport the ambulance to Wuhan and bring Garrett's super charging station back to Nanchang. A few days later, Jiangling Negative Pressure Ambulance carried these superchargers to the front line to participate in the patient transfer work in COVID-19.
Together with 65,438+0,000 units delivered before the Spring Festival, Garrett has delivered 65,438+0,900 superchargers to jiangling motors for the production of ambulances.
After the production task is completed, the employees also go home for isolation. On February 1 1, Wuhan announced the closed management of all communities. Fortunately, Garrett's production tasks were all completed at that time.
Ke Yanhua said that in the whole process, it was these employees who moved her most. "Our employees signed up spontaneously, and they said that we were very proud to contribute to Wuhan after 90." "After the completion of the Jiangling ambulance, we sent them photos of the ambulance in the group, and they were very happy."
She also stressed that these superchargers were really not made by a few people, but by many people working together, just as the Vulcan Mountain Hospital was built by many people.
In this process, Garrett China has been keeping close communication with overseas headquarters. From the first day of the first month, the project basically has a telephone report on the development of the epidemic every day. Headquarters is also very familiar with the situation in China.
