Composition materials about words and deeds

Zi Gong asked the gentleman, and the Master said: "First do what he says, and then follow it."

——"The Analects of Confucius. For Politics"

Zigong was a favorite disciple of Confucius. He was very smart and eloquent. Once, he asked Confucius: How can I become a gentleman? Confucius only said one thing: "You must act first, and then speak."

A man was driving a walking tractor on the road. The truck was filled with big rocks. The stone rolled to the ground.

A van drove over. When the driver saw the big stone blocking the road, he said angrily: "Who is so unscrupulous!" He turned the steering wheel and went around.

A car drove over, and the driver also saw the stone and frowned: "What happened? The stone was blocking the road and no one cared about it!" As he said that, he turned the steering wheel again to go around it.

The whole morning has passed, and the stone is still lying on the road.

A middle school student riding a bicycle came over. When he saw this big stone, he stopped the car and started to move without saying a word. He was weak and couldn't move it, so he rolled it on the ground and finally rolled the big stone to the side of the road.

Needless to say, we all give this middle school student a thumbs up. Because he doesn’t just talk and don’t do anything, he just does it without saying anything.

The difference between "saying" and "doing" is just one word, but it is the standard to measure a person's level. Therefore, Confucius warned Zigong: "If you want to be a gentleman, you must first do what you say and then follow it."

In our lives, some people say it and do it, some people do it and say it, some people only do it but don’t say it, and some people only say it but don’t do it. From this point of view, we must act when we say something, not just talk but not do it.

In today's study, many students tell their parents and teachers that they will study hard, but they have forgotten it as if they have not said it. Some students never said they would study hard, but they took a lot of actions to improve their academic performance.

A true gentleman should talk less empty words and do more real things. In everything we do, we should put practical actions before words, instead of just bragging. Don't talk without taking any action, and never be a "giant in words and a dwarf in action." After the words are spoken, there will be many variables that you cannot predict in the future. If you cannot do it, your words and deeds will not match. You should act first and then speak later. It is the safest way to succeed first and then speak out later. Act first and speak later, follow your words and actions, and be a gentleman if your words and deeds are consistent
