Military-civilian relations under the scalpel

In 1978, Li Suzhi had just been transferred to the Tibet Military Region General Hospital. His first patient was an 18-year-old Tibetan with congenital heart disease. Girl Dolma. There were no laboratories, no animals for experiments, no equipment, no equipment, and no experience. But all this did not deter Li Suzhi. Soon, he applied for an old warehouse as a laboratory, and raised funds from his tight salary to purchase necessary equipment, equipment, etc. Without animals for experiments, he and his comrades Go outside and catch wild dogs. After performing more than 9,000 surgeries and reading more than 400 medical works, the "knife" in Li Suzhi's hands became more and more famous. He saved countless people from the brink of death. The Qinghai-Tibet Railway is an important project in the country's implementation of the western development. After Li Suzhi learned about it, she took the initiative to contact the Qinghai-Tibet Railway Headquarters and requested to undertake the medical support task for the Tanggula Mountain to Lhasa section of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway. From 2004 to 2006, the two medical stations received an average of more than 20 patients per day.

On the way to the clinic, Li Suzhi often met farmers and herdsmen who dared not go to the hospital for treatment because they had no money. This often made him feel sad: Plateau military doctors work on the plateau on behalf of the party; The mission is to relieve the pain of the Tibetan people. Li Suzhi and the "group of people" of the hospital's party committee decided to issue free medical certificates to those in need. As long as they have this certificate, they will have the green light to see a doctor. The General Hospital has issued more than 7,500 "free medical certificates" to people in Nyangre Township, children in Lhasa's SOS International Children's Village, monks and nuns in Sera Monastery and other temples, and farmers and herdsmen in remote areas, making it easier for the people to seek medical treatment. Medical expenses were waived for people who were in special difficulties. Li Suzhi not only waived all expenses, but also mobilized medical staff to donate travel expenses and living expenses for them. After overcoming congenital heart disease, he successfully performed nearly 500 heart surgeries for people of all ethnic groups for free, with a free amount of more than 20 million yuan.

As for free medical care, Li Suzhi once calculated: “We ourselves have to bear millions for free medical care alone a year. But this is the glorious tradition of the people’s army, and tens of millions of dollars cannot buy it. The love between Tibet and Han cannot be bought by the military and local people."

Due to geographical constraints, there is no large-scale mobile hospital here to provide medical treatment.

Since its establishment in 2006, the "Mobile Hospital for Soldiers and People" of the General Hospital of the Tibet Military Region has used the long holidays to go on 115 expeditions. The only place it has not been to is Medog. On a day when tens of thousands of families were reunited, "General Memba" Li Suzhi, along with her wife, daughter, and son-in-law, once again went out with their entire family. 45 medical staff from the mobile hospital gave up the opportunity to reunite with their families and actively participated in the long medical tour.

It is difficult to travel, but it is difficult to reach the sky. Along the way, the mobile hospital led by Li Suzhi overcame numerous difficulties and arrived safely in Medog County at 1 a.m. on the 7th.
