1. After the credit card holder successfully applies for a credit card, HSBC will open a credit card account for him. Card is just a form of account, and there can be multiple credit cards under one account.

2. Under normal circumstances, banks will not cancel credit cards by default. According to the Administrative Measures on Customer Identification and Customer Identity Data and Transaction Records of Financial Institutions, bank account information shall be kept for at least five years from the year of transaction records. If you just return your card, you won't be able to enjoy the treatment and preferential treatment of new customers the next time you apply for a credit card from the same bank, and canceling your account can avoid this problem. Therefore, it is best to cancel the account corresponding to the card at the same time.

Two. HSBC credit card account cancellation method.

Since HSBC credit cards are not cancelled by default, cardholders who need to cancel their accounts must explicitly apply to the staff for cancellation. There are two common ways to cancel HSBC credit cards:

1. Call HSBC Credit Card Customer Service to cancel the account. Credit card holders can call HSBC's 24-hour customer service hotline to apply for cancellation of their credit cards. You can't owe money on the account when you cancel the card, and in order to ensure the security of the account, you must take the card with you when you cancel the card by phone.

2. Close the account through the counter of HSBC. If the credit card is lost, the cardholder needs to go through the cancellation procedures at the branch counter.

Third, users may have SMS delays.

After the bank card is cancelled, the bank will send a short message to the mobile phone number reserved by the customer to inform the customer that the bank card has been cancelled and no business can be handled. If you still want to use a bank card, you can only apply for a new bank card, not the original one. The SMS knows that it has been cancelled, but it usually takes one month to close the account after cancellation. If the account arrives within this month, even if there is no debt, the banking system will automatically send a text message to remind the account to arrive this month.
