How to use the Apple Car?

Use CarPlay car with iPhone.

CarPlay car allows you to use the iPhone smarter and safer in the car, allowing you to focus on road conditions. After the iPhone is connected with CarPlay car, you can get step-by-step navigation routes, make phone calls, send and receive messages, listen to music and so on.

With iOS 13, CarPlay dashboard can make it easier for you to know the way ahead. The new dashboard allows you to track maps, audio controls and Siri suggestions in one place, making it easy to access information such as calendars and schedules. You can even use the dashboard to control HomeKit accessories, such as door openers.

Please make sure that your country or region supports CarPlay car and your car supports CarPlay car. If you are not sure whether your car supports CarPlay, please contact the car manufacturer.

Set CarPlay car

Start the car and make sure Siri is turned on.

Connect the iPhone to the car:

If your car supports connecting CarPlay car via USB cable, please plug your iPhone into the USB port in the car. Such USB ports may be marked with CarPlay car icon or smart phone icon.

If your car supports wireless CarPlay, please press and hold the voice command button on the steering wheel. Make sure your stereo system is in wireless or Bluetooth mode. Then, go to settings > general > CarPlay cars on the iPhone, tap available cars, and then select your car. Please consult your car manual for more information.

Use Siri to control CarPlay cars.

There are two ways to control CarPlay car with Siri, depending on your car:

Press and hold the voice command button on the steering wheel. Then ask Siri a question or ask Siri to complete an operation.

Press and hold the CarPlay car home button on the dashboard or touch screen of CarPlay car. Then ask Siri a question or ask Siri to complete an operation.

Siri will also give advice on what you might want to do next in CarPlay car, such as driving to the next meeting. Siri suggests that you can work seamlessly with CarPlay car to make your favorite App at your fingertips.

If you have accessories that support HomeKit (such as garage door opener), you can use Siri's advice displayed on CarPlay's dashboard, or ask Siri to perform operations such as "opening the garage door" when you are near home.

Use the car's built-in controls to operate the CarPlay car.

Cars supported by CarPlay should have built-in controls, such as touch screen, knob or touchpad. To learn how to operate the CarPlay car display, please refer to the manual that came with the car. You can also use Siri to control CarPlay cars, even if you have built-in controls.

Organize your CarPlay car application.

When using CarPlay car, the available applications will be displayed on the display in your car. To add, remove, or arrange applications on the iPhone:

Go to settings > general, then tap CarPlay Car.

Choose your car. Then click Customize.

Use the Add or Remove buttons to add or remove applications. Click and drag the applications to change the display order of the applications.

The next time you connect the iPhone to CarPlay car, the new application sequence will be displayed on the display. Only the applications supported by CarPlay car will be displayed on the display.
