I donated blood in Beijing on August 3, and received a text message at 3 pm the next day saying that the blood was qualified. How did you get the result so soon? Will there be any missed inspection?

In order to ensure the quality of blood, the blood center needs to test the following items for each blood collected:

1 ABO blood group

2 Rh blood group

Serum alanine aminotransferase

hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg)

Hepatitis C virus antibody (HCV antibody)

6 HIV antibody (HIV antibody)

Treponema pallidum antibody

Hemoglobin 8

The above items need to be tested twice by two staff members, two instruments and two reagents respectively. Only qualified twice can it be used in clinic.

According to China's national standard "Requirements for Health Examination of Blood Donors", AIDS is a compulsory item. If nucleic acid testing is used, the window period of HIV testing can be shortened to 6 days. It can usually be detected in six weeks, up to three months.

In order to ensure blood safety to the greatest extent, the blood center uses expensive imported detection reagents with high sensitivity. They test whether the blood can be used, not whether the donor is sick. They have different purposes and standards. Therefore, there is a problem in the blood center test, "blood is not available", and blood donors are still tested by the CDC to confirm whether they are infected with AIDS.

More importantly, it is immoral to test whether you are infected with AIDS by donating blood. If it is not detected because of the window period, won't it harm the person who used your bag of blood and his family? I believe that as a blood donor, you don't want to see such a situation.
