Of all the cities in Jiangsu, why only Xuzhou has heating?

Heating line North-South heating line refers to central heating in winter subsidized by the government. In 1950s, under the background of "energy shortage", the state proposed to define a "line" with Qinling Mountains and Huaihe River as the boundary (1 0℃ isotherm) to delimit the central heating area in the north. This line has been used for 60 years.

As can be seen from this picture, even according to the heating line, there are many places in the north of the line that do not provide central heating, such as southern Sichuan, southern Shaanxi, most of Henan and northern Anhui, while Xuzhou, Jiangsu provides central heating.

In fact, there is central heating in residential areas in many places now, but this kind of heating can't be compared with the national unified planning, and the price is not the same.

So why is there heating in Xuzhou? Xuzhou is a famous historical city. Before the Ming Dynasty, it was a core city. In the Ming Dynasty, it was placed under Fengyang Prefecture, and in the Qing Dynasty, Xuzhou was placed under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province. In the era of Wang Puppet, it was once the capital of Huaihai Province.

In 49 years, Xuzhou, which experienced the Huaihai Campaign, was first liberated, but most parts of Jiangsu were not liberated, especially southern Jiangsu. So Xuzhou was handed over to Shandong Province, and it was not handed over to Jiangsu Province until 1953.

As can be seen from the heating map, there is central heating in Shandong Province. The central heating policy took place in the 1960s. At that time, Xuzhou belonged to the escrow of Shandong Province, and naturally it was handled in accordance with the unified requirements of Shandong in urban construction planning.

Of course, it is also because Xuzhou is just north of the heating line.

Due to such historical reasons, Xuzhou has become the only city with heating in Jiangsu.

In fact, the cultural customs in Xuzhou are different from those in most parts of Jiangsu, and closer to Shandong. And the surrounding Shangqiu, Huaibei and Suzhou are also very close. Even though Xuzhou is close to Suqian, Huai 'an and Lianyungang, there are considerable differences in culture and customs.

On the other hand, cities with heating are very comfortable in winter.
