What is equestrian?

Equestrian is a kind of competition that is completed by people and animals. It requires riders and horses to undergo years of training to show elegance, courage, agility and speed on the field.

Equestrian originated from the production and labor process of primitive human beings. In 680 BC, there was a carriage race in the ancient Olympic Games. Equestrian has a long history in China, which flourished in Zhou Dynasty and Tang Dynasty. Modern equestrian originated in Europe. 1900, equestrian was listed as an official event in the second Olympic Games.

The highest equestrian organization is the International Equestrian Federation, founded in 192 1 and headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland. The highest equestrian organization in China is the Chinese Equestrian Association, founded in 1979 and headquartered in Beijing.

On May 2022 10, Equestrian in Vocational and Technical College of Inner Mongolia Agricultural University was selected as the seventh batch of intangible cultural heritage representative projects in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
