Suzhou University Law School is located in Suzhou, a paradise on earth, with Jinji Lake in the east and the Grand Canal in the west, separated from Sino-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park. It is the main base for training legal talents in Jiangsu Province. Suzhou University Law School originated from the former Soochow University Law School. Soochow University Law School is famous in the history of legal education in China, and is known as "Southern Soochow, Northern Chaoyang".

1952, National University Adjustment. Soochow University, Sunan Institute of Culture and Education, and School of Mathematics and Science of Jiangnan University merged to form Sunan Normal University (later renamed Jiangsu Normal University), which runs schools in the remaining campus of Soochow University. 1982, approved by the State Council, changed to Suzhou University. At the same time, law education was resumed and a law department was established. 1986, law school was established with the approval of the provincial government, becoming the only law school in the province at that time. Suzhou University Law School inherited the tradition of Soochow University Law School and gained great vitality under the guidance of the Party's reform and opening-up policy. 1993 administrative law became a key discipline in Jiangsu province, 1994 established a master's degree in administrative law, and 1995 awarded a master's degree in administrative law. In the same year, it was approved by the Jiangsu Provincial Examination Committee as "the self-study examination point for lawyers in the whole province". 1998 obtained a master's degree in international economic law. Approved by the Ministry of Education, the doctoral program of "Constitution and Administrative Law" has become the third doctoral program in universities in East China, the first doctoral program in universities in Jiangsu Province and the first doctoral program in provincial universities in China. Recently, the Law School awarded a master's degree in litigation law, becoming the fourth master's degree in our school.

After 16 years' development, the law school now has four departments, namely, law, economics, international economics and lawyers, with four majors and directions. There are three master's majors in administrative law, jurisprudence and international economic law, and one doctoral major in Constitution and Administrative Law/kloc-0. Administrative law is also a key discipline in Jiangsu Province. 2 1 The development of China's constitution and administrative law in the 20th century was listed in the national "2 1 1 project". The main research directions are the basic theory of China's constitution and administrative law, economic administrative law (including foreign-related economic administrative law), comparative study of Chinese and foreign administrative legal history, and legal system construction of local governments, showing the distinctive characteristics of forward-looking, comparative and service-oriented innovative research.

There are more than full-time students 1 100, including more than graduate students 100. The law school has a team of teachers with high scientific research quality and rich teaching experience. There are several well-known law professors in China, and the proportion of teachers with senior titles accounts for more than 50% of the total. There are also a group of part-time professors at home and abroad who are often active in the teaching field.

The law school also has a well-equipped computer room, equipped with more than 70 486-586 computers, as well as a multi-functional language laboratory and audio-visual classroom, which has created good conditions for teaching, scientific research and learning.

Law school emphasizes the combination of theory and practice, and attaches great importance to teaching and scientific research. Soochow Law Firm and Soochow Institute of Comparative Law were established in 1986 and 1994 respectively, integrating teaching, scientific research and judicial practice. Soochow Law Firm originally had 32 practicing lawyers who were fair, honest and skilled, including 6 lawyers with senior titles/kloc-0 and 6 returned lawyers. We have established close cooperative relations with more than 10 law firms abroad and in Hong Kong and Macao, and gained a good social reputation. According to the national regulations, the institute has been decoupled from the administration of law school recently, but it is still a convenient base and window for teachers and students of law school to integrate theory with practice. Soochow Institute of Comparative Law is engaged in the comparative study of Chinese and Western jurisprudence, which has further enhanced academic exchanges and international cooperation with foreign countries and won a reputation for law schools. Soochow Law is an academic publication published by Law School, which has been strongly supported by scholars at home and abroad since its publication.

While attaching importance to the teaching and training of basic theories and knowledge, law schools attach great importance to various lively campus and community activities. Students' Union regularly compiles legal publications such as The Origin of Soochow Law and Unicorn, and provides social legal consulting services, which are well received by all sectors of society.

After 18 years' efforts, the law school has formed a multi-level and multi-channel school-running system, which focuses on undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, combines general education with adult education, and combines school-running with social cooperation, and has sent more than 4,000 legal talents to and from the province.

In May 2000, on the occasion of the celebration of Suzhou University 100, Mr. Wang Jian, an alumnus of Soochow University who was naturalized in the United States, visited his alma mater. His son, Mr. Wang, thanked his father and decided to donate $100,000 to finance the hardware construction and software construction of Suzhou University Law School. On May 18, the foundation stone laying ceremony was held for the new office building and administrative building of Wang Jian Law School, with the goal of completing it within two to three years.
