What should I do if I want to give my genealogy to the National Library?

Letter of Solicitation for "Local Literature" of National Library

Local literature is a record of natural and social phenomena and group activities in a certain area. Local chronicles, genealogy and official history in local documents constitute the three pillars of China historiography, and local chronicles are endowed with the functions of managing affairs, preserving history and educating people. Since its establishment in the last century, the National Library has always attached importance to the collection of local chronicles and genealogy. After decades of accumulation, the quantity and quality of existing local chronicles and genealogies rank among the top in the country. 1April, 1990, the National Library set up a local records and genealogy literature center in its branch library (ancient books library) to collect local documents with characteristics and provide reading and consulting services for readers. Since then, the collection of literature and history materials and yearbooks has been increased. At present, * * has 52,000 books with 240,000 volumes. However, due to the newly revised genealogy, CPPCC local literature and history materials and other local documents are published in the form of "informal publication", it is very difficult for local documents to enter the library.

On June 4th, 2009, the National Library formally established the Museum of Local Records. The local chronicles museum is committed to the systematic collection, collation, research, utilization and preservation of local documents, and should become an information institution serving the compilation and revision of local chronicles. At the same time, it should be built into a national collection and preservation center for local literature series, a local literature service consultation center, and a collation and research and academic exchange center. In order to collect local documents comprehensively and systematically, the National Library has specially collected all kinds of local documents from all walks of life. The National Library can have a rich collection of documents, thanks to the strong support and help from all walks of life. For a long time, generous donations from all walks of life have been one of the important channels for the National Library to enrich its collections. The National Library takes this opportunity to express its heartfelt thanks to all walks of life, and sincerely hopes to get the care and support from all walks of life as always.

The key collection scope is as follows:

Local chronicles and rural documents published before 1 and 1949;

2. Family tree and surname information;

3. Local literature and history materials edited by local CPPCC or literature and history committee;

4. Various manuscripts, professional records and department records;

5, local party history information;

The donated documents that meet the admission criteria and have not been collected by our library will be regarded as official collections and kept permanently, and a "collection certificate" will be issued to the donors as proof that the donated documents have been collected by the National Library.
