There is a railway station, Wugong Station, between Xi and Baoji of Longhai Railway, which is about 180 miles apart. Older locals remember that in the 1950s and 1980s, if you wanted to go to Ann or Baoji, you must have taken the train from here, and the train tickets were all 1.5 yuan. Because this railway station is located in many scientific research and teaching units and its geographical position is very special, it has always been an important station on the Longhai railway line.

In 23 years (1934), the National Northwest Agricultural and Forestry College was established in Zhangjiagang Village, Beiyuan, 23 miles away from the railway station. Later, it was renamed National Northwest Agricultural College (during the Republic of China), Northwest Agricultural College, Northwest Agricultural University and Northwest A&F University.

In the 25th year of the Republic of China (1936), the Xi 'an-Baoji section of Longhai Railway was opened, and the birth of this railway station-"Wugong Station" marked the arrival of Longhai Railway from east to west.

In the long history of more than 2,300 years, this place has always been the territory of Wugong County, Shaanxi Province, so today, the local old people will say that they are martial arts people without exception.

In 25 years of the Republic of China, the seat of Wugong county government was in Zhongtingchuan (now Wugong Town), ten miles northeast of the railway station, so it was not only natural, but also beyond reproach.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Wugong Station was expanded.

From 65438 to 0949, Wugong County was divided into nine districts, including Yangling District.

1March, 956, Wugong County withdrew from the district and merged into the township. The county has three towns: Chengguan, Yangling and Puji, and seven townships are merged into counties, including Yangling Township. The "Yangling District", "Yangling Town" or "Yangling Township" mentioned here is the location of Wugong Station.

1958, Xingping, Wugong and Fufeng counties merged into "big counties" Xingping county. Wugong County was temporarily revoked, and Wugong Station still exists. With the arrival of the people's commune movement, Yangling Township in Wugong County was renamed Hongqi People's Commune in June 1958+00, and it was also renamed Yangling People's Commune in Wugong County in June10.

In view of the inconvenient transportation and the geographical location in the old county, the Wugong county government moved to Qujia and Lida on the Longhai Line, more than 20 miles east of Wugong Station (the railway station here is called Puji Town Station because it is close to Puji Street, a famous town in the southeast of Wugong). Since then, there have been three kinds of martial arts in Guanzhong Road, Shaanxi Province: one is the location of the martial arts post station (Yangling Town, located in the southwest of the old county), which is still called "post station" by the over-aged locals; One is the seat of Wugong county government, which is what the locals call Puji town; One is the old county town (Wugong Town, Wugong County) which lasted for more than two thousand years. Locals and old people are still called "counties". Therefore, when foreigners come to Wushu for business trips, they are often confused: Wushu stations and Wushu research and teaching units are not in Wushu, Wushu counties are not Wushu, and Wushu counties are not Wushu counties. Although this situation has lasted for decades, the local people have never felt anything wrong and uncomfortable.

From 65438 to 0979, with the approval of the State Council, Shaanxi Province established Yangling Special Zone in Wugong County, including all Yangling Commune and Yangling Town in Wugong County. Yangling Special Zone is a deputy county-level organizational system, directly led by Wugong County Revolutionary Committee, which is convenient for the management of universities and scientific research units here.

1June, 982, Shaanxi Province placed Yangling Special Zone in Wugong County under the leadership of Baoji Special Zone directly under it. 1982165438+10, the State Council approved the establishment of Yangling District in Baoji City, directly under the leadership of Baoji City. 1982, the Ministry of Railways renamed "Wugong Station" as "Yangling Town Station" and "Puji Town Station" (located12km east of the original Wugong Station and where Wugong New County is located) as "Wugong Station".

At that time, some old gentlemen of Northwest Agricultural College and local martial arts celebrities strongly protested to change the name of "Wugong Station" to "Yangling Town Station". The protest mainly focused on the name Yangling Town. Yangling was named after the tomb of Emperor Wen of Sui Dynasty. However, all the tombs of emperors have their official names. The official name of Emperor Wendi's mausoleum is Tailing. "Yangling" is just the common name of the local people for the tomb of Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty. Besides, the real "Yangling" is not on the site of martial arts at all (belonging to Wuquan Town, Fufeng County), and the name "Station" is not so popular here. More importantly, in the minds of people at home and abroad, the names of the units here are usually prefixed with the word "Wu", that is, Wugong Agricultural College, Wugong Agricultural School, Wugong Water School, Wugong Branch, Wugong Water Conservation Institute, Wugong Botanical Institute and Wugong Agricultural Research Center. If it is irretrievable to call this place by conventional names (such as Yangling Township, Yangling Commune and Yangling Town after liberation), then we should rename this railway station with a name that is more shocking and sunny than Wushu, otherwise we would rather keep the world-famous name "Wushu Station" forever than introduce a very unlucky common name-"Yangling". However, these protests were ignored.

In June, 1983, 1 1, the county-level Yangling district was changed to be directly under the leadership of Xianyang city.

Originally, this was an excellent opportunity to correct the name, but what is even more puzzling is that the demonstration area was easily named "Yangling District". Where did Yangling come from? Although there are many explanations, such as the word ling symbolizes soaring, they are far-fetched and cannot be justified. There is no authoritative explanation so far. In a word, the uncooked rice is ready, and if anyone raises an objection, no one will pay attention.

In view of the fact that the demonstration area has been named "Yangling", a modern railway station built here in 2006 was naturally named "Yangling Railway Station". 20 14 Yangling Town Station was renamed Yangling Station. However, on the website of the Ministry of Railways, there is no "Yangling" station at all, and the train ticket is still "Yangling". It seems that it is really notorious and has caused great trouble to the world. It's really the misfortune of the martial arts station.
