How long is the third generation social security card valid?

The third generation social security card is valid for 10 years, as follows:

1. If the expiration date is not marked on the social security card, you can bring your ID card and social security card to the social security center or official website, or you can call 12333 to inquire. Generally, when the social security is about one month away from the validity period, you will receive a short message to remind you to renew your social security card;

2. After the financial function expires, other functions such as social security and medical insurance are not affected and can continue to be used. If the social security card has a financial function, is using the financial function, and is about to expire, it must be replaced. If the social security card has not been opened with the financial function or has been opened without using the financial function, after the expiration of 10, the social security card and the function of purchasing medicines for medical treatment can continue to be used without replacement.

Legal basis: Article 58 of People's Republic of China (PRC) Social Insurance Law.

The employing unit shall, within 30 days from the date of employment, apply to the social insurance agency for social insurance registration for its employees. If the social insurance has not been registered, the social insurance agency shall verify the social insurance premium it should pay.

Employees-free individual industrial and commercial households who voluntarily participate in social insurance, part-time employees who do not participate in social insurance in the employing unit and other flexible employees shall apply to the social insurance agency for social insurance registration.

The state establishes a national unified personal social security number. Personal social security number is a citizen's identity number.
