Prose: Birthday at Detian Waterfall

Coincidentally, the one-day trip to Detian Transnational Waterfall in Daxin County that I booked through Nanning Guangxi International Travel Agency happened to be on my birthday. I chose October 16th because I wanted "a smooth journey" and I didn't even think that it was my birthday! That day coincided with the International Half Marathon Competition being held in Nanning. My wife couldn't go to the Great Falls due to motion sickness, so she hoped to see the marathon and tell us her feelings. At dawn, police officers on duty were already standing on both sides of major routes such as Minzu Avenue, each about 15 meters tall. The welcome signs along the way are particularly eye-catching, and the citizens watching the excitement have already chosen the best observation positions to wait there. We, father and son, got up early and hurried to the entrance of the Galaxy Hotel on Chaoyang Road diagonally across from the train station to greet the minibus heading to the Great Falls. We had already felt the atmosphere of the competition in advance.

It went very smoothly, and all day trip passengers were on time, leaving at 7:30. The minibus was very old and the driver drove it steadily and fast. There are 25 people in the car including the tour guide and driver, and there is still one empty seat. The tourists on the bus came from all over the country. There was a couple in the seat in front of us who were foreign tourists. The man was a foreigner and the woman was Chinese. They were very impressive. The couple on the right who kept chattering was a Cantonese couple. I couldn’t understand a word of Cantonese; sitting behind me were four young men and women born in the 1980s, very energetic, innocent and lively. The tour guide introduced herself as Huang. Within 5 minutes of getting on the bus, she began to introduce the day's itinerary in Mandarin. First, we will introduce the overview and characteristics of Nanning, and then explain the matters needing attention. Where to shop, where to dine. When we arrived at the Great Falls attraction, it was characterized by a transnational waterfall that spans Vietnam, so we specifically talked about some customs of Vietnam. For example, a Vietnamese woman's figure from the back is worth ten thousand, but if you turn around, you will be shocked, so don't be fooled; Vietnamese people like to cuckold, a man has six wives, and each wife has a title. I only remember The sixth wife was called "mineral water", which made the tourists in the car laugh.

God is kind, the weather is very good, not hot, and the overcast sky is relatively cool. Less than 30 minutes after leaving Nanning City, we entered the highway and the speed was very fast. I opened the car window and the breeze blew in, which made me feel comfortable. Soon, I suddenly saw the endless banana forest on both sides. There were single banana trees in rows, one by one, with an average height of more than 3 meters. Each one was hung with heavy ripe bananas covered with black covers! Every time they arrive at a village or market town, banana farmers use hand tractors loaded with large quantities of green bananas, and transport them in containers to designated locations. Large trucks are on the roadside, and banana farmers use customized paper The box loaded the bananas one by one into the car. Ah, this is the ripe banana season in Guangxi! I have eaten bananas since I was a child and have seen bananas in supermarkets, but I have never seen a banana tree or a banana forest with my own eyes, let alone what a banana tree looks like. This was the first time I watched it up close. I was so excited that I was as curious and childish as an innocent and romantic child. I almost flew out of the car and jumped into the lush banana forest!

In addition to bananas, I also saw large tracts of sugar cane forests for the first time. There were also some southern crops whose names I didn’t know, and they were also large and tracts. Sugar cane and bananas are Guangxi's specialties and the main source of income for local farmers. In addition, I also saw large tracts of rice and corn that have turned yellow and will be harvested in less than 10 days. This is the second season of rice and second season of corn in Guangxi, and the first and only season in our hometown. The rice harvest has just been completed. Guangxi has a subtropical monsoon climate, and many crops such as rice have two seasons, so farmers here are very hardworking. It is rare to see steep peaks in Nanning City, but don’t worry, less than 50 kilometers outside the city, you can feel that our station wagon is walking in the ravines. The mountains here are strangely shaped, a bit like the stone peaks in Guilin, but there are no big trees on the peaks, just weeds, and they are green. The entire mountain is made of limestone and there is less soil. The farmhouses on the roadside are all built of red bricks, mostly in Vietnamese style. They have narrow facades, long body length, front and rear windows and closed sides, just like a rectangle. Moreover, the houses are not big, and the floors are generally less than three floors. Simple.

For more than 4 hours, we had lunch at a restaurant not far from the waterfall. There were three tables, and we were assigned to the second table, with several young people born in the 1980s. meal. Soon we arrived at our destination - Detian Transnational Waterfall! At this time, the tour guide announced that he only had two hours, and he was determined not to fall behind. We quickly got off the bus and waited for the tour guide to take us into the scenic area.

Just entered the gate and walked a few steps, wow! From a distance we saw the waterfall we had longed for, the destination of our trip! The place was full of tourists, groups of people vying to take photos and get the best position. Taking pictures when traveling is a must, it is passionate and romantic, if you don’t leave a trace, you will regret it. I couldn't wait any longer, so I quickly asked my son to take photos, and also asked tourists to take photos for us.

The waterfall is very spectacular. It is not an exaggeration to describe it as "it flows down three thousand feet, as if the Milky Way has fallen into the sky". It is so beautiful! It is the largest waterfall in Asia and the second largest in Europe! The widest and most beautiful one on the right belongs to China, and the narrower one on the left belongs to Vietnam. What’s interesting is that the water in this waterfall has no national boundaries. It flows to Vietnam and China. They are cross-border with each other and do not require a visa. The tour guide pointed out that we could spend 20 yuan per person to sit on a bamboo raft to see the waterfall up close. We all thought it was worth it, so we jumped on it. There was indeed a cuckold sailor on the bamboo raft. We identified him as a Vietnamese, short and black. He was selling Vietnamese cigarette boxes and specialties on both sides of our bamboo raft. We were not interested in shopping at this time, but all our energy was on Watch this huge waterfall in front of you! The sailors circled the bamboo rafts in a big circle under the waterfall. We rushed to take pictures. The water droplets and mist from the waterfall wet our clothes and floated over our cheeks. We enjoyed the beauty that nature brought to us. Pleasure.

After getting off the bamboo raft, we walked up the direction of the waterfall, taking pictures as we walked, and headed straight to the No. 53 boundary marker between China and Vietnam. After 1.5 kilometers at most, we arrived at this boundary monument. We, father and son, touched this boundary monument and thought to ourselves, if we take one step, we will go abroad! It’s so easy to go abroad, why don’t we take this step? We entered Vietnamese territory without any obstruction! In fact, on the border of this boundary monument, border residents can communicate with each other, and tourists can also shop at the border, but only near the boundary monument. There are many vendors here, lined up in rows. I walked into the stall set up by Vietnamese and had a conversation with a little girl. I took a fancy to Vietnamese wooden chopsticks. To my surprise, she spoke to me in fluent and gentle Mandarin. "Do you want to buy it? It's very cheap. What's your price? It can be less. Just buy some!" A childish and shy smile appeared on his face. I asked her, "How old are you? Are you a Vietnamese child?" She said, "I am 10 years old and I am Vietnamese!" Really, a Vietnamese little girl is very experienced in doing business, which is amazing! The stall sold a lot of things. In order to rush for time, we bought two cervical massagers made of mahogany and a few boxes of Vietnamese chopsticks, and hurriedly left Vietnam for China. It’s so interesting. In an instant, my left foot is in China and my right foot is in Vietnam. It’s a pity that we can’t stay for a long time, otherwise we can go abroad every day!

Because this trip was a bit special, I sent a text message to my wife when we were less than 100 kilometers away from Nanning City on the way back. She understood and prepared a sumptuous dinner waiting for our return. We returned to Nanning City in the evening. I originally thought that today was my birthday and there must be wine to drink. When I picked up the dishes and chopsticks, there was no wine on the table. The mother and son were so funny that they said, "You are not allowed to drink! Even if there is no wine today, it is still worth remembering." Yes, don’t you think? “It’s so interesting! I said, "Yes! I am so happy today. The father and son not only saw the waterfall, but also saw the banana forest, sugar cane forest, corn forest, and tasted Kuding tea. The most interesting thing is that they also went abroad. They just returned from Vietnam. Return! ”
