Lexus recalls some SC430s due to airbag hazards

A few days ago, Toyota Motor Investment Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China and will recall some Lexus SC (check transaction price | model details) 430 cars starting from March 3, 2021.

Scope of recall:

Starting from March 3, 2021, some imported Lexus SC430 sedans from 2021 to 2010 will be recalled, with production dates from January 7, 2021 to 2010. January 19th. According to the company's statistics, there are 79 vehicles involved in mainland China.

Reason for recall:

Due to a supplier issue with vehicles within the scope of this recall, the passenger seat airbag may damage the gas generator container when it deploys, causing debris to fly out , causing harm to people in the vehicle and posing safety risks.

Solution:

Toyota Motor Investment Co., Ltd. will replace the passenger airbag inflator for free for vehicles within the scope of the recall as a preventive measure and recycle old parts to advance defect investigation . Toyota Motor Investment Co., Ltd. will notify all car owners by sending letters, and the dealership will notify them by phone, text message, etc. Users are advised to send the vehicle to the nearest Lexus dealership for inspection and repair in a timely manner. @2019
