BMW recalls some X3 models

BMW is recalling some X3 models due to manufacturing defects in the dashboard.

A few days ago, BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, and will recall some imported BMW X3s starting from December 20, 2013.

Recall scope: Recall some imported BMW X3s, with production dates from June 26, 2012 to March 13, 2013. According to company statistics, there are 7 vehicles involved in mainland China. Reason for the recall: The affected vehicles have a manufacturing defect in the instrument panel where the instrument panel trim layer has an incorrect tear line for the front passenger airbag. When the airbag needs to be deployed, the decorative layer of the dashboard will not be torn in the set position, and the airbag may be deployed inside the dashboard. In this case, the front passengers are not fully protected and some parts may fly out of the dashboard, posing a safety hazard.

Solution: For defective vehicles, BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. will replace the dashboard for free to eliminate hidden dangers.
