What are wireless application protocol WAP and wireless markup language WML?

WAP is the abbreviation of wireless application protocol. This is a security standard that enables users to obtain information through wireless handheld devices, such as handheld computers, mobile phones, pagers, two-way broadcasting, smart phones and so on. WAP supports most wireless networks, including GSM, CDMA, CDPD, PDC, PHS, TDMA, Flex, Flex, Eden, Tetea, DECT, Datatac and Mobitex. All operating systems support WAP, among which Palm OS, EPOC, Windows CE, FlexOS, OS/9 and JavaOS are specially designed for handheld devices. Some handheld devices, such as PDA, can access the Internet through WAP after installing a micro browser. Micro-browser files are very small, which can better solve the limitations of small memory of handheld devices and large bandwidth of wireless networks. Although WAP can support HTHL and XML, WML is a language specially designed for small screen and keyboard-less handheld devices. WAP also supports WMLScript. This scripting language is similar to javascript, but it needs less memory and CPU because it basically has no useless functions contained in other scripting languages.
