How many rural people have achieved poverty alleviation?

On June 27th, 2022, the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee held a series of press conferences on "Ten Years in China". Deng Xiaogang, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, introduced at the press conference that in the past ten years, the fight against poverty has achieved a comprehensive victory. Under the current standards, 98.99 million rural poor people have all been lifted out of poverty, 832 poverty-stricken counties have all taken off their hats, and128,000 poverty-stricken villages have all been listed, thus solving the overall regional poverty and embarking on a road of poverty reduction with China characteristics.

First, the living standards of the people out of poverty have improved significantly, and all of them have achieved food and clothing, and compulsory education, basic medical care, housing safety and drinking water safety have been fully guaranteed.

Second, the development capacity of poverty-stricken areas has been significantly enhanced. Each poverty-stricken county has built 2-3 leading industries with distinctive features and a wide range of driving forces, and problems such as difficulty in traveling, electricity consumption and communication have been solved historically.

Third, the results of tackling poverty have been continuously consolidated, 33 transitional convergence policies have been introduced and implemented, and a dynamic monitoring and assistance mechanism to prevent poverty has been comprehensively established. 160 national key rural revitalization counties were identified and continued to be supported, keeping the bottom line of not returning to poverty on a large scale.

Winning the battle against poverty has solved the problem of absolute poverty that has plagued the Chinese nation for thousands of years and created a historical miracle. This shows that winning the battle against poverty is of great historical significance. From a historical perspective, getting rid of poverty is an unprecedented arduous task, and winning the battle against poverty is not achieved overnight. We * * * people "insist that the castle peak will not relax" and "dare to teach the sun and the moon to change the sky", unite and lead the people of the whole country to work from generation to generation, and we will achieve something in time.

In the decisive stage of poverty alleviation, we have taken many original and unique major measures to overcome poverty and accumulated many successful experiences that can be copied and used for reference. It can be seen that the important experience of winning the fight against poverty has not always existed, but has been constantly summed up and created by our party leading the broad masses of the people in the practice of fighting poverty.
