Will the defendant be notified by SMS?

Legal analysis: After being sued, if summary procedure is applied, the defendant will be notified by SMS. Under normal circumstances, civil cases are subject to ordinary trial procedures, and the people's court will not notify the defendant by SMS. After accepting a civil case, if the people's court thinks that the civil case can be applied with summary procedure, it shall notify the defendant in a summary way. If the defendant can be found by SMS, the people's court will notify him by SMS.

Legal basis: Article 159 of the Civil Procedure Law of People's Republic of China (PRC). When trying a simple civil case, the basic people's court and the court dispatched by it may summon the parties and witnesses, serve litigation documents and try the case in a summary way, but the rights of the parties to state their opinions shall be guaranteed.
