Book Review of Returning from Decadence

I read a lot of Cai Jun's works in the half year when I was obsessed with horror. Compared with other horror novels, Cai Jun's novels focus on creating a strange and frightening atmosphere, which makes me feel more real. This may be related to his consistent preference for first-person narration in his novels. The protagonist of the novel is "I", and the unfolding of each story is always caused by a little thing in reality, and then it is layered, so that you can't help but follow the context of the story and explore the unknown ending.

Return from decadence is another novel after the last novel apartment from decadence. The story started because of a fan's strange receipt. This book tells the story of half a year after the publication of "Abandoned Apartment", I received a strange-looking receipt from the fan club and a short message for help from the decadent survivor Su. The spell of the jade ring is still with you. Chunyu and I found a thrilling face in Sue's computer. Her name is Huan, the last queen of Liangzhu ancient country. She said she only had seven days to live. And a few hours later, I accidentally met a waitress Lin You who looks exactly like Ah Huan in the bar. In order to see my beloved Xiao Zhi again, I couldn't help but listen to Ah Huan's words and put on the jade ring of decadence again, despite Sue's accident for six days. In the last 24 hours, Chunyu and I will go to decadence again.

In fact, after reading the whole story, I was deeply attracted by the ups and downs of the plot, which made me yearn for the mysterious Liangzhu culture. All these will remind me of the queen Huan of the ancient jade kingdom and the splendid civilization in that long time. History is history after all, and the past is a thing of the past, so no matter how Huan struggled, no matter what kind of witchcraft she was born again, she finally returned to the torrent of history and the place where she originally existed.

In fact, after reading the whole book, I feel quite sad and slightly heavy. Perhaps this ending is the closest to the truth.

Bronze culture, named after its discovery in Liangzhu Town, Yuhang, Zhejiang Province, was discovered in 1936, about 5250~4 150 years ago.
