Before using its various functions, let's introduce it: use Movie Maker to capture audio and video materials (such as family pictures from traditional cameras or digital cameras), edit them and make them into movies. The produced films can be used for news, entertainment programs, product promotion, business information exchange or distance education, and even a single-frame slide show can be created or made by importing pictures. Like Windows series products, this software is aimed at novices. Of course, you can't expect to make some gorgeous animation special effects. Movie Maker is integrated in Microsoft's operating systems WinMe and WinXP. The first time you run the program, you will be forced to enter its tutorial interface. Interested friends can have a proper look, but the introduction is not very detailed. Open the main interface, which is divided into four areas (Figure 1): Toolbar: Use the toolbar to quickly perform general task operations, which can replace some functions of the menu. Favorites: Use favorites to organize audio, video and still images that you recorded or imported. Monitor: Use the monitor to preview the video content, including the search slider that moves with the video playback and the monitor button for playing the video. Workspace: Use the workspace to edit your movies. The workspace consists of two views: storyboard and timeline, so that you can make movies from two angles. Is it similar to the workspace in Flash? The following introduces the general production method of digital movies. The first part is to make the original material 1. Click the "Record" button in the upper right corner to make the material (Figure 2). 2. You can see that the column of video equipment shows "None", and the preview window on the right side is also black. The reason for this problem is that the video equipment is not connected, so friends should not make the same mistake. (If the DV camera is equipped with a tape, some cameras will automatically enter the standby mode. If this happens, switch the DV camera back to Play mode. 3. If you have multiple audio and video devices, click Change Device to select the device you want to record. It is best to select the "Record Time Limit" and "Create Clip" check boxes. The former means that the default recording time limit is two hours. If there is not enough space on the hard disk, this time is determined by the quality setting and the hard disk space detected on the computer. If you do not select the maximum recording time, you should monitor the recording process so as to stop recording if necessary. If the Create Clip option is selected, a new movie file with a common file name (i.e., tape 1.wmv, tape 2.wmv, etc.) will be created in the specified location after the recording time has expired. 4. The following quality options are very important. Because it is the original material, the stay time on the hard disk will not be too long, so the author suggests choosing the highest quality (Figure 3). 5. After everything is finished, you can click the "Record" button to do the actual operation, and the preview window on the right side changes with the recording process. Of course, you can stop making the material at any time, without affecting the content you made before (click the "camera" button on the right to capture a picture when recording a video). 6. When finished, you will be asked in which directory to store the generated materials. After saving the material, the program will automatically divide the original material into smaller and more manageable pieces, which are called "clips". With these clips, you can organize and edit movies (Figure 4). 7. Sometimes we need to reprocess the original clip and divide it into smaller clips. First, in the favorites area, click the video clip you want to split. Then click Play/Pause on the Play menu, or move the search slider on the monitor to the position where you want to split the clip. Then click Split on the clip menu. The first half of the new clip retains the name of the original clip; The second half uses the name of the original clip plus a number, such as clip 6( 1), and so on (Figure 5). Note: Not every computer hobby has a recording device, so we need to call various multimedia files stored on the computer to make clips, and click the "Import" button in the "Files" list to find the required files on the local hard disk. This function is extremely powerful, and almost supports most multimedia files and picture files under Windows (Figure 6). The second part is editing the movie 1. The clip we just made lies in the collection area. Click any clip and drag it to the Workspace. If there are too many clips, it will be too much trouble. The way to paste in batch is to select "All" in the view menu, and then select "Add to Synopsis/Timeline" in the clip menu, so that all the clips in the "Favorite Area" will be moved to the Notepad (Figure 7). 2. You can rearrange the clips in the order you want by clicking and dragging them to the clip you want to change, so as to complete the change of the playback order of the clips (Figure 8). 3. Next, click the "Timeline" button on the left to switch. There is a playing timeline on it, and we have to finish editing the film. When you move the mouse pointer to the timeline above, it sometimes changes to the shape of left and right arrows. At this time, press and hold the left key, and you can move the slider left and right at will, and the deleted part will be grayed out (this operation can be resumed). In order to better grasp the time, you can click the "increase or decrease" button next to it to adjust the schedule accordingly, so as to achieve the effect of fading out and fading in (Figure 9). 4. If you need to explain in the film, you can click the "microphone" button, as shown in figure 10. It's best to select the option of "Mute Video Track", then pick up the microphone and put it to your mouth, and click "Record". Since it is synchronized with the video, it depends on your eloquence whether you can keep up with the playing speed of the film! After completion, find a place to store the generated WAV file, and its clips also appear in the collection area, and drag them to the workspace (figure 1 1). 6. Note: Video clips and audio clips can be played overlapping. To create a transition between two clips, click the second clip in the Timeline. Drag the second clip to the left so that it overlaps the first clip. The overlapping area indicates the length of the transition, and the time length of the transition cannot exceed the time length of its adjacent segment. In this way, you can listen to your "wonderful" voice and background music while enjoying the movie (Figure 12)! 7. Finally, in the "Play" menu, select "Play the whole story summary/timeline" for preview, and if you are not satisfied, you can do some processing on the film (Figure 13). The third saved film 1. Select "Save Movie" from the "File" menu (figure 14). 2. In the "Play Quality" list, click the quality setting you want to use (please try to choose a higher point because it is a local show). In the Display Information area, you can type the information you want to display when others view your file. Enter the name of the movie in the pop-up dialog box, and then click Save (Figure 15). At this time, the program will do a lot of compression work, and the machine had better not do anything else. If you want to watch the saved movie immediately after completion, please click Yes in the Movie Maker dialog box (Figure 16). 4. Now that the movie you made has officially entered the hard disk, you can enjoy it with Windows Media Player at any time (Figure 17). If the fourth movie is sent to the Web server, it will be a bit wasteful if it is "narcissism"! Let's teach you how to send a movie to a network server. 1. On the File menu, point to Send Movie to, and then click Web Server (figure 18). 2. In the "Settings" list, click the quality setting you want to use, as shown in figure 19 and figure 20. If the host name of your website is not listed in the host name box, click New (Figure 2 1). 4. In the "Friendly and easy-to-remember name of the website host" box, enter the name of the new website host profile, which will be added to the host name list for future selection. In the FTP upload address for sending movies to this website box, enter the FTP address. In the "URL to watch movies sent to this website" box, enter the address of this website (including such as:), enter the name of your home page, and then click "OK" (Figure 22). 5. Return to the Send to Web window, type the user name in the User Name/Registered Name box, and type the password in the Password box. If you want to save the password, select the Save Password check box, and then click OK to send the movie to the website (Figure 23). 6. The remaining work is to make a hyperlink of the movie file in HTML format on your homepage, with detailed explanatory text, which is convenient for visitors to watch online (I won't introduce it because of space limitations). 7.
