On March 4th, 2022, Laixi reported 3 confirmed cases in COVID-19, all of which were found in the staff of fever clinic of Laixi People's Hospital. The laboratory of the Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention quickly detected the Omicron mutant. Three confirmed cases, all students from Laixi No.7 Middle School, have been sent to designated hospitals for isolation treatment. On March 5th, there were 8 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Laixi City, all of them were classmates and teachers with confirmed cases in Laixi City.

According to the relevant provisions of the joint prevention and control mechanism in the State Council, after comprehensive judgment, the Qingdao Municipal Committee's leading group for coordinating epidemic prevention and control and economic operation decided to adjust Laixi No.7 Middle School as a high-risk area from 0: 00 on March 5, 2022.
